Here is another good one. Fear is vanishing. Get it? This was also the birth of Social Security. FDR got it done, even if he had to make shit up, like Social Security, who would have thought? LOL. At monments like these, I often think that FDR was the best world leader... ever. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3660812400990383610&q=FDR&hl=en

We all need to be reminded what a great President, and a REAL President, is like. Thanks for posting this.

5. This real President saw fit to lock away 120,000 Japanese. |
|
"Fear is vanishing," I guess it didn't vanish for those poor Japanese-Americans.

Unfortunately, even somebody who did some great things was far from perfect.
Much as we might admire somebody, we need to be very careful about idolizing anybody.
Even great or good people can sometimes do some very bad things. Certainly that illustrates why we need checks and balances, and why we need to avoid giving any one person or group of people too much power. (Even if they in some cases don't work, like in this particular instance, it is very bad to not have them at all.)
As imperfect and flawed as FDR was, he was by any and all standards much better than the present occupant of the White House.

6. Nothing to fear but fear itself |
|
The 'boys' instill fear by making examples of a few people to keep lawmakers and officials in line. They are few in number but have a lot of resources at their disposal. Being in control comes with a price. It costs a lot of money to keep the army of operatives going after those who make noise in opposition. The more noise we make and the more there are of us, the sooner we will bankrupt them.

10. America used to export HOPE |
|
Many Europeans Hoped the USA would enter the war in Europe, we did , we gave them hope. We rebuilt Europe and Japan, again HOPE. Peace Corp, again HOPE, THe United Nations, HOPE. Ah gee, here comes those crazy Americans, they are so idealistic, always trying to help out. But they are a likable bunch.
Now America exports fear. That is not the country my father fought for in WW2. But that is the Country I am fighting for, now its my turn, its our turn. Its like 10:30 and I just got back from running an AM canvass, a stop at an anti war protest, A Reading of the NAMES of the US troops killed in Iraq and a PM canvass,
then off to the Tom Wyka for Congress HQ, so I just got back from the office with more Bumper stickers, Lawn signs, and literature. My Mini van is a rolling campaign office. Life is good in the trenches, FIGHTING BACK.
