Question; How can bush change the geneva conventions... |
|
alone... when so many other nations have signed it?
It seems to be even in his delusional head, this is not possible.

1. No "change" - we just interpret torture as not being torture - with hold |
|
forever without charge (which is part of McCain bill also) as a gift to those who want to toss the Bill of Rights/Constitution.
It is great being king.

3. He's grasping at straws.. |
|
... he's trying to get Congress to interpret the text broadly to permit what any sane person would call torture.
He's got 2 huge problems.
1) I don't think McCain or Graham are going to give in. I don't know about Warner.
2) Congress's interpretation of of III will mean JACK SHIT in any world enforcing court or body.
Twist in the wind you torture president.

4. Even the worst enemies have obeyed the Geneva Conventions |
|
over the years. There were a few notorious and cruel exceptions, but most countries do not allow torture or killing of their prisoners of war. Even in an undeclared war like Vietnam, most POWs were kept alive and in fairly reasonable shape and eventually returned home.

7. Well he sure seems desperate to "clarify that law" for the US only. |
|
I was just curious where he gets the balls to say that the US can change the law to suit them, when all the other countries have obeyed this law for the most part fot 60 freaking YEARS.

9. I say let's apply the laws as they have stood for what...57 years?? |
|
Not too vague for most Yale scholars, but then again.
War crimes are war crimes.
