Want to predict the Media Spin on State of the Union speech? |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 10:53 AM by Armstead
What do you think will be the spin that the media Presstitutes will put on the State of the Unioin speech?
Here's my prediction of the narrative that will be endlessly parroted in lemming-like fashion by the Feinmans, Tweetys, Wolfies and otehr Media Presstitutes. (Hoping I'm wrong.)
Before the speech a big build up. Basic theme. "This is probably the most important speech of his presidency. After a difficult first year, Bush has to reestablish his second term with a fresh start. Most Americans like the President and want him to succeed, and recent polls show that he is making a comeback due to his personal popularity. And the fact that the War on Terror has again become a major issue will also help him because people trust this administration to protect them."
After the speech the media Echo Chamber will resonate with: "This Preident did a masterful job tonight. His speech established a bold new front for his administration. And he finally took credit that the economy is going great thanks to his tax cuts. And his personal magnetism was once again on full display. He also struck a home run by introducing that cute little Iraqui boy whose father had been tortured by Sadaam. This speech was a turning point, and the President has once again established his special bond with the American people, and he has taken charge of the agenda once again. This has really put the Democrats in a bad spot, because they are in disarray and have nothing new or different to offer."
I might avoid the television for a few days around that time.
What is your predicted scenerio?

5. Yes, there will be shared catch-phrases and metaphors galore |
|
All used and repeated "coincidentally" by all of the analysts and pundits as the echo chamber goes into high gear.

You nailed it. They'll trip all over themselves proclaiming the great success. A few days later when the polls come out showing the reality of Bush's flop, there won't be a peep out of them about it.

9. I think you nailed it so well he won't need to give the SOTU address |
|
The networks can just broadcast the reactions to the address, and Bush can take the night off to re-read My Pet Goat. It will have the same meaning as if he were there anyway.

12. Does this timing bother you -- your thoughts... |
|
... I ask this question again (and it includes some news information);
There are two VERY important dates to watch:
January 31 (State of the Union Address) (plus CSPAN announced it's covering the Patriot Act on this day, too)... February 3 (Expiration of the Patriot Act)
Question... when will some big scare affect us:
a) Before January 31st (in time to drive home the point of the Patriot Act during the State of the Union Address)... b) Between February 1st and February 3rd... c) Sometime after February 4th.
What say you (and what's your thought on the "why")?

I'm cynical about these guys, but I haven't reached the point of cynicism where I'm willing to believe they'd do something like that.
But I suspect that the scary rhetoric will get ratcheted up between now and then.

Nifty summary of how Keith Olbermann is asking questions about the timing of terror: http://newsbusters.org/node/2162What do you think?

17. My opinion is that they do manipulate the hype to actual threats |
|
I don't think they make this stuff up, but they do find reasons to magnify public perceptions of the ongoing threat at convenient times.

If anything the media spin will be even more overtly obnoxious than you've depicted.
They'll acknowledge a "controversy" over the warrantless wiretaps--which, of course, they won't refer to as "warrantless" because that's where the illegality actually lies--and then they'll tell us how Chimpy responded forcefully.
and there will be the usual complaining that the terror-loving Democrats weren't respectful enough because they didn't cheer for Dear Leader at ever applause break.

And replaying it endlessly to subtly reinforce that the Party of Chappaquidick are just a bunch of grumpy leftists.
