Asking all nurses out there? |
|
Have you all received mail from Cambridge Who's Who Among Executive and Professional Women in Nursing and Healthcare? I ask because I received a letter and I am always pessimistic about stuff like this...feel like they want to sell me something. Did you all receive the letters last week?

1. They want to sell you the book. |
|
I was an RN in a previous life (before the wheelchair). I got the same thing last year. I think they get the names from the state. They told me I'd been nominated already and needed my bio for the book. And if I wanted to buy the book it was about $35, I think.

before the blindness and spinal arthritis. I haven't gotten the letter yet, but I would imagine there is a donation involved with getting one's name listed in Who's Who.
I don't need to be famous. They'll just have to get their money from those who do.

3. I'm not in nursing, but I see these Cambridge Who's Who letters... |

I'm not in nursing, but these books exist for every industry. I see these letters every month or two.
You're right. They do want to sell you something - the book. They're betting that a certain percentage of people will spend the bucks to have a copy of "Who's Who in ..." that has their name in it. It works for them, too.
It doesn't cost anything to be listed - the only cost is to purchase the book.

4. I'm not even a nurse and I got one a few months ago! |

I am apparently on some kind of nursing mailing list, possibly from a multidisiplinary conference I once attended, and occasionally get offers for nursing textbooks, etc., but that one took the cake. You are right to be suspicious. I am sure they are betting that enough people will feel flattered and will buy the book.
