Liberals for McCain
They’re out there, and we underestimate their potentially decisive role in election 2008 at our own peril.

Here’s how it works (from the post linked below):

“He's a man of principle, and though I disagree with him and X on Y, he'd make a great president.”

1. What kind of principle does it take to suck up to the one who abused you?

2. Define "principled". Hitler was "pricipled". He hated the Jews and...
he saw to their death. This "princpled" arguement is such shit.

3. Let me share
I'm a liberal. I'm a veteran. Some think I'm a sane human being. I have the utmost respect for LCDR McCain and am proud to have served in the same Navy that he did. And I will never, ever, ever vote for the man for anything.

If a person votes for McCain, that person is not a liberal.

5. My regret for not voting for McCain...
when he ran against Bush in the Presidential primary (here in VA, you can vote the primary no matter which party you are registered for).

I'd take McCain any day over Bush, but that's the only instance I can think of where I'd vote for him.

11. I'd have to agree with you
I cannot imagine anyone running against bush whom I'd vote against. But to maintain my purity I only vote in dem primaries, and thats the way it is in Mississippi.

And I think a pragmatic argument against McCain is his age and health. Those issues are very important to me. I don't want to give a 72 year old four years in the white house regardless of party.

4. Otherwise known as battered spouse/SO syndrome
McCain is a traitor to humanity for sucking up to the regime.

He has pissed on the faith and flags of his fathers.

the fantasy McCain. They are not political junkies like us.

13. Well, it's going to be an uphill battle, cuz the media drool for McCain
We just have to keep reminding people that, despite his few "maverick" moves," he is a staunch supporter of Bush and the Iraq war. God, you'd think they'd see that, but the don't. They choose the path of least resitance.

16. I've heard many radical liberals say this
I think McCain will be hard to beat in a General Election. I think he'll have a difficult time in a Republican primary but the media has created this image of him that is not true. It's stuck in most folks mind and it will be very, very difficult to change the media created image.

Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 03:05 PM by Stevendsmith
And I've posted it many times. I get a slew of doubters:

"McCain's too old to be president"

"He'll never be president because the fundies hate him"

"Not many liberals would vot for McCain"

for the Republican nomination.

How can you be so sure we don't have to worry? Please elaborate.
