CNN's Speech Spin: "Quite a marathon Q&A session... |
|
... for the President! He took roughly 13 unscripted, unscreened questions, with the President sharing some warm and personal moments with the audience."

Except for exactly two questions, he was lobbed softballs on his pet issues: the freedom ish-ah in Iraq, Social Security, Iran, and lovin' the pretzlenit.

16. What were the 2 questions that were not softballs? |
|
I watched the "event" in Louisville the week before last b/c CNN apparently made a big deal about the fact that he'd be taking "unscripted/unscreened" questions. Not only were they all softballs, most of the questioners lauded him before asking their question.
As others here have pointed out - how pathetic is it that it is a big deal when the President of the United States takes unscreened/unscripted questions?

17. There was a good question about Bush cutting the Student Loan... |
|
... budget. He hedged and denied that any money had been cut at all.
There was a second question asking whether Bush had seen "Brokeback Mountain." I don't think that was a hardball, I think that was a set up so that Bush could say he hadn't seen the film and didn't want to. Something to send out to homophobe Red State America.
There was a woman from Venezuela who addressed the Hugo Chavez issues, but I wasn't really paying attention at the time.
It was like a Mini UN at Kansas State!! A question from an Iraqi woman, a British guy, and a Venezuelan woman...

Don't forget the guy who asked about our very own weapons of mass destruction - he was also part of the colorful foreign tapestry that makes Manhattan, Kansas such a vibrant multicultural town.
Yeah, I'm still dyin' at the "MEEEEEEESTAR PRESIDENT YOU SAVE 27 MILLION IRAQIS MEEEEEEESTAR PRESIDENT MEEEESTAR PRESIDENT MY MOTHER SHE WAS A CHRISTIAN MEEEEEEESTAR PRESIDENT...." Rove plant. Never, NEVER have I seen something so clumsily planted in my life, and I remember the Nixon years (hazily).

Such bovine excrement!
If they were indeed unscreened, then only 38% of them would have been soft balls. That would be in keeping with his approval rating.

"unscripted, unscreened questions"! Who talks like that? They never had to qualify Clinton's conferences that way. Clinton took on all comers and beat them at their own game.

11. Unscripted, unscreened questions |
|
From a heavily screened audience. See, CNN, it doesn't matter where the screening happens. If it's in the questions submitted or the audience that poses the questions, there is screening going on. It's like when someone says they'll lie if it will further their agenda, then says they won't lie because they're honest and good (sort of like what Donald Rumsfeld said). It doesn't matter which order the statements come in, it means that someone is lying. So, whether the audience is screened or the questions are screened it doesn't matter, because the outcome is that the questions are screened.

They aren't pretending anymore. Bush on three cable "so called news" channels every time he speaks.
Nope...the gloves are off. Big Business rules. very bad...or maybe it will wake people up as they will see it as "gaming the system."

18. Why does the Corporate Whore Media have to emphasize |
|
that the questions are unscripted, unscreened questions? Isn't that a bit odd? Shouldn't the American public automatically assume that? Aren't they afraid they just might make people start thinking that these little events ARE staged? This crap makes my head hurt.

that means the others have been scripted and screened and they just decided to let us see one unrehearsed moment with the POS. Why bother, the audience was self screened seems like to me. MEEEEESTER PRESSSSSSSSSIDENTTTTT!!!! What a plant. I almost puked my coffee all over the desk. Hope someone gets that persons story so we can see some background there.
