For not accepting an interview, Stephen calls E. Scott Garrett (R - NJ 5th) a pussy and instead interviews his challenger, communications consultant, ex chef (among other things) Paul Aronsohn. Stephen says for doing the show he’s in for ‘at least a 15 point bump’ - The Colbert Bump.

He's a complete asshat. I remember when he visited my AP history class in HS and he was completely ripped apart by the class. I mean, yeah we were the "smart" kids, but if you can't handle us, how can you handle congress?

He'd be great to see on Colbert.

4. Basically he made the fatal error of underestimating a bunch of 17/18yos

He came in and figured it'd be an easy Q&A, which is would have been had he not been a complete asshat. This took place in 2000-01 sometime.

Q: "Why did you go into politics?"
A: "I thought I'd be good at it."

Q: "What made you choose to be a Republican?"
A: "Well, my parents are Republicans and if I wasn't a Republican, then I'd be going against my parents wishes. It's very important to respect your parents."

Q: "What are your views on gay marriage?"
A: "Well, I'm aware that there are people living under that condition, but marriage is a sacred thing between a man and a woman."

It was about here that the class threw the gauntlet down. Apparently, he didn't expect us to be smart or raging liberals (as most smart kids are). He was just ripped apart over the gay issue and he was turned into a stammering fool. There were three openly gay students in the class, a girl with two moms, and naturally a bunch of people with gay friends. We wanted to know the "condition" gays were living under. He didn't quite know the answer to that.

At one point, I turned to my friend Jayson (he's gayer than RuPaul) and said, "I saw a t-shirt once that said 'everytime a Republican dies, a queer angel gets their wings.'" This resulted in my back corner of the classroom bursting into hysterical laughter (including the assistant principal sitting behind me).

Poor Rodney couldn't handle or figure out what the laughter exactly was about. And he just lost even more control of his ability to give a coherent response. It was supposed to run for the entire 1.5 hour class, but it ended up being 30 minutes with the class. Suddenly he had an "engagement" to attend to. We ended up having the rest of the class as a free study period.

Victory achieved.

Thanks for the laugh. I doubt Aronsohn has much of a chance there, but he's a damn good sport. And who knows? Maybe he will get a bump!
