"Nuke their Ass! Take their Gas!"

A bumpersticker I saw yesterday on an SUV.

Why would anyone want radioactive gas?
:sarcasm:

2. While that sticker is disappointingly small-minded,
at least one RW clown is admitting it's about oil :eyes:

8. nuke the Middle East, then we might as well pump the oil out

Believe it or not I really am a non violent liberal, yet I also believe in self preservation. We in the USA have in the last 50 years have pissed off the Muslim world for generations to come by our policy of Israel can do no wrong. Then on top of that we also funded the Madrassahs schools in Pakistan that teach the Saudi style of Wahhabism that despises all things Western, Now Wahhabism is being spread to Europe and world wide by the Saudi's and others.

Then to top all THAT off, this country elected B* TWICE ( or let him take it ) , What has B* done with his two terms in office, created a war that has generated a few generations of Islamic martyrs against the west and especially the USA.

So believing in self preservation I am willing to accept the only way out for us could be to nuke the Middle East, then we might as well pump the oil out, since there won't be any people left there

In a struggle lasting 120 years,

There is an historical precedent: ancient Rome. Rome, too, had a strategy of deterrence by cost. To work, Rome found, the cost had to be horrifying. In a struggle lasting 120 years, Rome fought three wars against Carthage, its main rival in the Mediterranean. The great Carthaginian general, Hannibal, even penetrated northern Italy and inflicted on Rome a defeat of strategic proportions at Cannae. Rome realized that only total destruction would end the contest: Scipio took Carthage, slaughtered most of its inhabitants and sold the rest into slavery, razed the city and sowed its fields with salt. Scipio’s savagery did actually deter, over the next several hundred years, other ambitious Mediterranean powers.
