Remember George W. has a 36% approval rating right now. And, indictments are accumulating.
We know how he promised to unite not divide; he would "reach across the aisle." We know the Arabian horse judge appointed to head FEMA, heckuva job Brownie, didn't work out real well. Course, then there was the FDA's appointment of a male veterinarian to head up their Office of Women's Health.
Now we have a Supreme Court nominee, Samuel Alito. The New York Times says "It is likely that Judge Alito was chosen for his extreme views on presidential power."
Alito's views seem tailored to rubber stamp the administration's claims it can torture, imprison, and spy on whomever it pleases. People who spend a few minutes looking at his record
http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002314.htm are stunned at the implications.
At 55, given an average lifespan he could be in office for the next 28 years -- the equivalent of
the next seven consecutive presidential terms.
Wanna take 5 minutes and try to shake some sense into your Senators? Senators are crippling their own power if they confirm Alito, who will make Congress into a purely ceremonial body.
DO IT!
If you don't, don't complain to me for the next 28 years about Alito.
