Torture is useful for one thing. |
|
And it's this: Under torture you can get people to say anything you want.
You need several hundred "confessions" to being terrorists? Allow torture. Then the Republicans get to crow about all the "terrorists" they have captured. How safe we all are now. Vote for us. We're keeping you safe.
Do you ever get reliable information through torture? Of course not - and I don't think the republicans even care. That's not why they want it. They want it so that they can create an entire prison full of confessed terrorists.

1. Yes and you won't hear the M$M or any Repuke bring that up. |
|
Need a confession?
Yup, torture. Want to arrest a person, kidnap their family member and torture them into saying, 'yes he is a spy/terrorist'. Bush claims it as evidence, arrest is made, person is whisked away, more torture is applied and move on to next target.
Take it from a former MI guy - it will work this way and people will fall by the numbers.

2. Torture is completely unwarranted |

How does anyone rationally explain invading another country and subjecting its citizens to torture by the occupier?
I hope republicans at some point regain their sanity. Our shock and awe killed and maimed countless Iraqi innocents. The 13 year old boy with his limbs shot off. Should our troops be tortured?
It is the governments who make the call. Let the soft and mushy W, Cheney, and Rumsfeld be subjected to torture for their acts on Iraqi innocents.
Give them the waterboard treatment, suspend their rights. They sicken me.

4. OK, I admit to a little hyperbole. |
|
But you get my drift. And your point is certainly valid as well.
I just feel sick and frightened at the same time.

Americans, at least democrats, will fight for freedom. And it will be effective.
The GOP sheeple will do as they always do, go bleat in a corner, and wait for government to save them.

6. Republicans would be just like the Germans lining up with Hitler |
|
To join in his persecution of those "jews" who were trying to ruin their economy and take over the world.
I can see the GOP actively pursuing a capitalistic effort to "contain" those non-GOP to retain purity of the base. They shave our heads and send the hair to the Saudis for usage in mattresses and pillows.
The Pope was also a defendor of Hitler. I know Falwell, Dobson, etc would join in on a new venture to cleanse the world of those who did not share their mindset.
