Why will it be ok for us to torture them but not for them to torture us? What does this do to the "Saddam tortured his own people" justification for the War in Iraq?

"All the world's a stage", and they have this formulaic melodrama running through their heads: Evildoer does evil, Good Guys catch Evildoer, Evildoer is Punished swiftly and harshly.
It's not "moral relativism" to treat upstanding Good Citizens differently than filthy, ratlike, devil-worshipping Evildoers.
