Why do certain opponents of the ACLU feel the way they do about it? |
|
Before I begin, I want to make it clear that I am generally supportive of its policies. And while it might seem silly to ask such a question in this day and age, I'd still like to discuss the matter. I understand, and accept, that there are people who disagree with certain decisions it has made, and stances it has taken, and thusly have decided not join. But the gut-level, blood-to-the-face, visceral hatred those four letters seem to inspire in some is, well... perhaps I have been too brainwashed by it's propaganda, but it is just difficult for me to understand. Why do you think it occurs?
(If you are wondering what motivated me to ask this, I read a comment on the aforementioned organization in a talk page on Wikipedia.)
