Stung by criticism, Bush calls for offensive 'across the world'

US President George W. Bush called for fighting America's enemies "across the world" as he stepped up his counteroffensive following charges that his policies were breeding a new generation of Islamic terrorists.

The call, delivered in his weekly radio address, was aimed at countering a rash of accusations that the Bush administration had seriously mishandled the war in Iraq and created fertile ground for Islamic extremism.

The criticism was fueled by a new National Intelligence Estimate, portions of which were declassified this past week. The document argues that the war in Iraq had spawned a new generation of Islamic radicals determined to strike against the United States...

But Bush insisted Saturday that claims that the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq was helping foster anti-American terrorism were tantamount to buying "into the enemy's propaganda."

"The only way to protect our citizens at home is to go on the offense against the enemy across the world," the president said. "So we will remain on the offense until the terrorists are defeated and this fight is won."

4. Is that a call for WWIII?
The only way to protect our citizens at home...is to make sure Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest of these criminals are escorted out of the White House and to the Hague.

33. Lucky terra from abroad is the only threat to this Republic and we the
people, the only thing in the world we have to be concerned with: no need to be concerned about our liberty and freedom and the domestic enemies who would take those from us. No need to worry about good jobs, the cost and availability health care and prescription medicines, the cost of higher education, our standard of living and standing in the world....

7. Looks like it's us against the world, folks.
A little "Ryder Cup" style diplomacy. How'd that "Ryder Cup" in golf go this year? We got our asses handed to us......again.

When will "Little Boots" Bush learn that it's easier to get your "missions accomplished" when you're working with others and listening to their input as well? My guess? Never. The cretinous megalomaniac needs a sharp dose of reality to slap him across the face. Hopefully he'll get it this November.

14. They're working on that part.
If you're not with them, you're against them! There are rumors of a "fifth column" right here in the U.S.!!! The enemies are everywhere!!!!!

I'll have to get back my copy of "It Can't Happen Here" from the friend I lent it to, to refresh my memory of what happens next. It's like they took it as a manual.

10. What's left to protect here?
There is a bizarre mix of protectionism (security) combined with the opposite of protectionism (economy), which is an irony because our economy is as relevant to our security as anything else.

Where am I wrong? I'll happily admit when I'm wrong too.

16. And while we're busy talking about Foley, look what Bush just signed!!
With no debate on Saturday, the Senate passed and Bush signed the "Iran Freedom Support Act" also known as the "Iran Sanctions Bill"

This bill will now allow the US to sanction any country supplying Iran with goods or services that could be used in a nuclear program, and the bill is being seen as a clear warning to China and Russia.

US sanctions bill targets Iran allies

"Although it does not name any countries, the measure is seen as a clear warning to Russia and China, two key members of the UN Security Council that have been resisting calls for new international sanctions against Tehran in response to its refusal to halt uranium enrichment...

The bill, passed by the Senate in the pre-dawn hours by voice vote after clearing the House of Representatives a day earlier, came as Iran and the European Union are engaged in delicate negotiations designed to persuade Iran to halt its enrichment work and avoid a major international showdown...

The Iranians have demonstrated that they are deceitful, obstructionist and bent on destroying Israel and all of Western civilisation. We know where this path is going to lead. Aiding Iran to become a nuclear power, even inadvertently, is unacceptable..."

23. If Bush** has his way, there's no doubt in my mind that Iran is next
They'll do the same thing Reagan did to Khaddafi in '81: provoke an attack. Easy to achieve in the name of the sanctions they just passed against Iran, by mounting a forceful and provocative blockade of Iran's ports. Losing a ship or a few planes as a result is all BushCo need to terrorize the American people into rallying around "daddy" and the Repugs as they order our Navy to blow Iran to kingdom come.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened just before elections.

21. Halliburton's stock split a couple months ago and has gone done
ever since. I would guess they need a new infusion of money, so we need new wars to send Halliburton into feed and sevice the troops and "rebuild" the newly destroyed invaded country. I would imagine * could get a few more trillion added to the national debt and into the defense contractors hands before he leaves office - if he will leave office.
