truth wants to break out ... like a damn about to break, it is leaking
everywhere.

the bushes are doing the darndest to stop the damn from breaking.

they are using every method known to them to stop truth from coming out.

repression.
intimidation.
encarceration.
manipulation.
lies.
distortions.
contortions.
denials.
memory failings (or failed memories)

they are the cockroaches who need to be exterminated.

they are afraid of the rush of a breaking damn that could sweep them away from the white house
and the power and control that they love and venerate--the false god they worship.

5. Remember, they are ONLY talking to the core of their base. . .
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 11:41 AM by pat_k
. . .these days. If those people stay home, they don't have a shot at stealing elections. Americans just won't buy a Republican "win" when the exit polls favor the Democratic candidate by 65+ percent.

7. the polls are saying 81% of Americans against the Iraq War
and the Media says that the country is divided over Iraq. The average American also does
not buy into the torture excuse. Ask Wes Clark, he gave a clear answer, We should not
torture, America is better than that. I am summarizing what he said. But that is what
Americans think. We have been lied too and spun around but the truth is still there.

11. Truth has a power of it's own. When a person learns the truth, they do not
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 12:07 PM by pat_k
. . ."unlearn it."

The numbers will ALWAYS go only one way.

But, countless people in the United States are still trapped in silence by immobilizing beliefs ("People like me don't do politics," "The money people have all the power, why should I bother?").

It takes more than numbers.

It takes connections. It takes examples of citizen action that challenge those immobilizing beliefs.

Our power to protect our interests is rooted in our connections with each other. If you doubt this, consider the American Legion in the United States, which is not exactly an organization that one would apply the label "progressive" to. Despite the "conservative" label, members of American Legion Posts across the nation were instrumental in designing and passing the most progressive legislation we have seen in decades: the GI Bill.

By contrast, consider the AARP, which is made up of lots of people who got together based on status (being old together). Unlike the American Legion, members of AARP do not meet and connect with each other in local associations. It is basically a top down "strategic" organization in which the members are largely viewed as game pieces. Because member participation is limited, the AARP does things like support Bush's prescription drug horror.

Every week, more and more of us are fighting to re-assert our soveriegnty. We are connecting. We are gaining momentum.

You are right. The truth will always win in the end. Our job is to keep hope alive, keep making connections, and keep the ball rolling.

12. yes, I think that there is power of the goodness of our country
there has been much done wrong in our country and it has moved away from being a liberal thing or a republican thing into the light of was it right or wrong. This administration
has been very skilled at framing but now people are saying we are on the wrong track and
how can we fix this. Everybody has been saying this, David Brooks is calling the Democrats:
the party of the millworkers. What is wrong with that, when did blue collar become something
we look down on. My dad with his metal lunchbucket had more class, more responsibility and
more morals that most of the ceos that I see in the news today. I think that too much emphasis has been placed on labels and not enough on actions.

13. The labels for the "divisions" have lost all objective meaning.
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 06:45 PM by pat_k
You are absolutely right. The labels do more to obscure than shed light.

Our power to protect our interests is rooted in our connections with each other. If you doubt this, consider the American Legion in the United States, which is not exactly an organization that one would apply the label "progressive" to. More. . .

but only when each person is able to connect to the group in a meaningful way and have a
say.

10. It's a good analogy.. I was watching a show about the Grand Canyon
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 12:09 PM by tridim
yesterday and they showed how Lake Powell is slowly (quickly in geological time) trying to reclaim it's flow around Glen Canyon Dam in the same way the Colorado River carved the entire canyon. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of how soon the dam will fail.

Truth, like nature, cannot be contained no matter how thick the wall.
