Who decided the Daily Show is "fake news?" |
|
Most people see it as more honest and real than CNN. Really, come on, Fox is real news and Jon Stewart is fake?

Jon Stewart calls it the "fake news". The answer to the OP's question is "Jon Stewart". What's difficult about this?

I didn't watch this show for years because I kept hearing it referred to as fake news. Never was the term "satire" used, despite the fact that this sort of news satire has been around for years. I never heard it referred to as "fake news" before. Maybe "satire" is too big a word for the current times, but for those of us who cut our teeth on Laugh-In and spent college watching Weekend Update, "fake news" just sounds weird.

Hence why he has to attack the show all the time.

They've always maintained it's a fake news show. Their correspondents stand in front of a blue screen and file made-up reports. They always add jokes, attribute quotes that were never made, use phony translators etc ala SNL News. It's honest commentary, but fake news.

7. Jon Stewart & Co. chose this label. |
|
Adding a bit of irony, since their skits and the show as a whole usually reveal a lot more of the facts of the matter than 24 hours of CNN, MSNBC/NBC, ABC and CBS combined. (Adding Faux to that group would, of course, yield a negative number and thus create an unfair comparison.)

The beauty of the Daily Show is that it doesn't matter is it is (incorrectly) called 'fake news' since Repukes don't care about facts anyway. The best thing to do is just to make fun of them.

10. The best way to make a point in the USA |

is to use satire. Satire is what makes it serious news and one of the more successful ways to lance a repug boil.

Not that what they present is "fake" information.

15. A lot of it is false information. |
|
For example, if Joe Lieberman loses his independent senate bid, he's not actually going to start his own senate with Michael Dukakis, Walter Mondale, and a zombified Adlai Stevenson.
It provides cover for accusations of slander.
