I don't want to sound like I don't want all this to be true, I do, and I suspect there is more bad news for bush and the repukes. I think we're in a pre-planned assualt on the bush regime. And yes, we should give it to them as hard as we can. And I hope we're successful. It should be apparent to anyone ready to vote in November that this country needs a change. How could anyone still be considering voting for a republikan? How???

2. I personally am tired of the pessimism

I'm proud of (most) of the candidates that Democrats are fielding this November. I think the Congress is ours and I'm not going to worry about jinxing it or something by proclaiming it on this site.

It boggles my mind why some people would be pessimistic this week of all weeks.

Although....I do see where you're coming from. I think I posted something similar not that long ago myself. But keep your head held high because, come November, we will have Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid!

I don't mean to be pessimistic or anything. Just an aimless thought I posted on DU. Not being a defeatist, just thinking "out loud."

I have as much hope as anyone here. And I think the foley crap and the Woodward book will give us traction for days. But five weeks is a long time in politics.

My hope is that there is more to come. My hope is that Dems will at least take one body. Two would mean impeachemnt, maybe. At any rate, this thread is a downer. Maybe I should just delete it while I can.

All they serve to do is demoralize the republicans and keep them at bay from regaining momentum. I think that's HUGE to be honest with ya. But in the end it is STILL UP TO US! The final act is ours. The final push must come from us. We must orchestrate a GOTV effort like we never have before. We must get people registered. We must get them to the polls. That's what this all will come down to. The multitude of stories coming out right now help our chances immensely. If we can follow through with our GOTV effort, both houses of Congress are plausible.

7. I've been very worried for months

about the machines and voter suppression - but I am a bit optimistic now - but I understand you completely that we have been hopeful before and so deeply disappointed SO MANY TIMES - kind of self protection - not to get too hopeful - but I am - I think this scandal is TOO BIG too close to election - but I'm still not completely sure if its big enough to stop the election fraud - I just pray to God that we'll take back the Congress - I don't know how much more of this shit any of us can take.....

9. This time it's different, I can feel it.

In '02 I had faith that Americans would see thru the BS about the impending war and toss the GOP bums out. Boy did I get an education. In '04 I was hopeful because the war was starting to go from bad to worse that the people would wake up but after what happened in '02 I didn't believe that it would happen. Now though, it's a perfect storm of war, lies, corruption and best of all, SEX. I knew as soon as I heard the news about Foley on Friday that we would take both Houses. I can feel it in my bones.
