2. Why would anyone want to leak his name? That's just sick, and
a good reason why his parents didn't want him to become part of the story.
Their family values schtick is taking a beating, and rightly so.

9. Hmmm, never thought of that. I think the IMs are enough to
get lots of people in trouble, for being involved and being enablers. I don't know what the benefit of any page coming forward would be, other than to put a sweet young face on the outrage.

10. They would be blaming it on us.
Probably be picking up "Terrorists" right now. Something the FBI can do well. They can't catch Anthrax killers or even tell the difference between homemade and weaponized stuff, it takes them five years! They can't get on a Congressman molesting pages. No, no they can bust kooks without a car wanting to destroy the Sears Tower, now that they can do!

FBI, the laughing stock of law enforcement. They desperately need another Efram Zimbalest puff show to boost their image...

37. The problem is the repukes pay these kids
A friend of mine is a good liberal Democratic but like many of us, doesn't pay much attention to politics unless an election is coming up. She was excited to tell me not long ago that her son, a college junior, had been recruited by a local state senator (a repuke) to help on his re-election campaign. She thought I would be proud of him.

I about gagged. This particular state senator is as far right as you can get in this state. He is part of a pack trying to ban stem cell research, destroy public schools, make Christianity the official religion, etc, ad nauseum. I pointed all this out to my friend, and she said well her son was bright enough to know those positions are wrong. He was raised by 2 liberal Dems who always taught their kids liberal values.

LOL 6 months after being swept up by this repuke, the kid is spouting RW talking points at family gatherings and my friend is about to choke the life out of the kid. HIs dad is livid that they didn't talk him out of going to work for this RW nutcase.

Here's the problem - the state senator has already found scholarship money for the kid to help pay his tuition and he signed him up for some work next summer in DC. So the kid is getting a free summer in DC and help with his tuition. And he has only been involved with the repukes for 6 months.

His mom now tells me it is like a cult. They took ahold of her kid and immediately began dangling treats in his face.

Sickening, eh?

20. Is This Page Still Underage?
Calling all DU lawyers...according to my vague knowledge, wouldn't divulging the name of a minor be a violation of some law?

Remember, Hastert was hoping to shut the pages up by calling in the FBI that would scare them with having to testify...and I'm sure the Reynolds/DeLay RNCC slime machine has been hard at work all weekend checking their lists once, twice, thrice on every page who Foley could have come in contact with over the past decade...and preparing to send horse heads in their mailboxes.

Considering there are only 100 or so pages any given year, it's not hard to identify who a page was...especially since we know which Congresscritter sponsored him.

The real irony here is how Hastert and other claimed that they didn't investigate to protect the family and now will gladly expose them if it means holding on to their power.

27. Well, it is guaranteed that the boy and his parents
are good, well-connected, affluent Republicans who have always strongly supported the Republican Party. If that were not the case, he would never have gotten the position as a Republican page. Attacking him is probably not going to go over well with other well-connected Republican parents who have sent their children to be pages or who had thought about doing so.

29. OMG......how sick and evil!!!
I wonder if Rove is behind this? Fits the style of that fat asshole. Why in the world would any DECENT person threaten a child who has come forward and reported inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature direted towards him/her by an adult in a position of authority? That reminds me too much of the sick and evil actions of the Roman Catholic church when reports started to flood the gates about the sick, perverted pedeophile people it had protected for years.

I cannot imagine how evil a person has to be to threaten a child who is reporting being molested or having sexual advances made to him/her by an adult. It takes a really evil, sick mentality to do this. But...then...that phrase does seem to righteously describe a lot of members of the Repuke party.

If Hastert had told Foley not to run for re-election and keep his nose clean until he left Congress. it might not have come to this.

I feel sorry for that boy and his family.
