New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote

Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) interrupted a vote on the floor of the House in 2003 to engage in Internet sex with a high school student who had served as a congressional page, according to new Internet instant messages provided to ABC News by former pages.

ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys under the age of 18.

You're right, they look alike to. Maybe once they all get carted off jail, they have time to replay the Nazis on Hogan's Heros.

Cheney would play Gen. Burkhardter, but Bush of course would want to play the Fuhrer.

If it's what I think it is, this thing is going to go nuclear. It's going to go far beyond Foley and might implicate such wholesome characters as Rush Limbaugh, Abramoff and Guckert/Gannon. The mind boggles.

55. I'll even say I can draw a line...
...between a Congressman having a moment of weakness over a single page (and, hey, these kids are 16 and 17, not 10, and maybe the single page has a moment of weakness too -- I had a couple of trists with interns when I was a page; back when a 20-year-old was an "older woman" :) ), and this kind of creepy long-running contact with a whole bunch of them. Not that the "single incident" model is acceptable or anything (if nothing else it's a textbook hostile working environment and like any work situation can lead to charges of bias or favoritism), but that's something I could conceivably forgive in an otherwise-decent life. But e-stalking a whole series of teens who came to work for you because they wanted you to show them how this country is governed is revolting.

I can anticipate that as long as there are congressmen and pages (or interns, or staffers, or what have you), there will from time to time be isolated scandals, against which various protections and protocols can be set up. I seriously doubt anyone anticipated a Congressman would keep a harem of cyber-fuckbuddies from the Page program, and I really really doubt anyone would expect a leadership member who found out to cover it up.

Seriously, think about it!

The Clenis = NOT OK, BAD FOR THE MORAL FABRIC OF OUR NATION, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Foley's Foley = OK, HE WAS A MISUNDERSTOOD ROMANTIC, THE KID SET HIM UP, IT'S THE DEMOCRATS, BBBBBUTTT CLINTON!

So they hate gays, but approve of pedophilia (that happened to be with two men, the gay fact is not the issue). To follow their logic, they approve it because its children and think its no big deal. But its not ok with two consenting adults.

Their logic, just like everything else, is flawed and stinks of rancid Republicans.

43. I can't tell whether he's acting adolescent to lure them...
...or whether something in his emotions or psyche is "stuck" at about age 16 and that's why he finds them attractive. My (limited) experiences with ephebophiles suggests the latter; they get stuck on some issue in adolescence and never outgrow it. And unlike pedophiles, who do see themselves as "hunters" and their victims as prey, ephebophiles in a weird way in their own minds are actually "dating" their victims, and can't really handle relationships with other adults because they never really got out of adolescence themselves.

I mean, seriously, look at how childlike some of his IMs are. "we better drink in my house so we won't get busted." Yes, it could just be a shady ploy to get the kid drunk in his house (and it's surely at least partly that), but there's something so sad there... like there's a 16-year-old saying "dude, my parents have been away for... ummm... 30 years now... I've got this sweet pad all to myself. Let's get wasted!"

EEEWWWW!!

PS: Not only is this so unbelievable, yet totally believable, but I think everyday more and more is coming out (no pun intended).

First it was "over friendly" emails to one page. Then it was clear that it was involving more than one page. Then it was clear they involved very explicit and suggestive language. Then it became clear that they involved solicitation for getting together. Then it has been suggested in some emails that there has been contact. Now we hear these emails and instant messages were sent not just during off-time but actually during the business day. Next we will hear about the actual "contact" and liasions....

Then we may be hearing about who all knew about it and even "joined in"....

Believe it....

63. where are these instant messages stored?
How are these old messages being retrieved?

Are these old messages on Foley's computer? on an AOL server?

How long is this type of data kept?

Is this part of the governmental spying, that everything is somehow somewhere captured in a database?

I'm beginning to think that everything I have ever sent via email is saved, and I might be an 'enemy combatant'!

I believe that ABC said that the pages themselves sent these Aim conversations to ABC.

69. These pages are the KEY....
I am so happy to see that former pages are emailing these conversations
to ABC News. They are obviously willing to share information about this,
and that is excellent news.

I'm sure they were sickened when it was happening, but what are they supposed
to do--when they are employed by these slimeballs?

Now that the slimeballs are in trouble--these pages are revealing the truth.

Could it be, that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg???????

As right-wing nut jobs cover this up, minimize it and blame the pages (like
Drudge is), this will only embolden the pages to give up more information. I'm sure
it pissed off the pages to hear Foley's IMs categorized at "overly friendly".
It probably doesn't make them too happy when Druge blames them. The pages can also
see through the bs, when the Republicans blame the Dems for all of this. The pages
lived through all of this, and they understand how bad it was and who is to blame.

I am happy to see them standing up and revealing the truth. I don't care if the
perps are Reps or Dems. This kind of abuse and harassment should NEVER stand.
EVER! The US Congress is not a playground for predatory pedophiles and silence
only helps the perps.

They hold ALL of the cards and they can change the course of history if they
keep telling the truth. Democracy relies on transparency, and Americans need
to know what is going on---so we can stop this.

71. this whole foley thing . . .

bothers me for a completely different reason.

it reinforces the barbaric and backwards image of
gay men as being dangerous, out of control sexual
predators.

foley is gone, and with him quite likely are the
rethugs in congress, but the stain this scandal
has left could remain for years.

what I am seeing is deeply distressing.

81. WHAT? He is too a gay man!
He's a gay man who also happens to be a sexual predator of teen boys. If he was a sexual predator of teen girls then he'd be a straight man who also happens to be a sexual predator of teen girls. If he was a sexual predator of teen girls AND boys then he'd be a bisexual sexual predator of teen girls and boys. His sexual preference is in members of his same sex, therefore he is a gay man.

OBVIOUSLY, not all gay men are also sexual predators of any kind just as not all straight men are sexual preditors of any kind, and not all bisexual men are sexual predators of any kind. He is interested sexually in only members of his same sex, therefore he is a gay man. ALL sexual predators of minors have the same sexual gender preferences as the rest of us... either gay, straight or bisexual. The difference between sexual predators of teens and/or children and us normal folks is that they are sexual predators of teens and/or children. His gender preference is immaterial, but he has a preference just as we all do, and his just happens to be that of his same gender.

Denying he's gay is just ridiculous. He's gay, and his gender preference has NOTHING to do with the fact that he's a sexual predator.

79. Caused by Alcohol?
So from what I understand, Foley has entered alcohol rehab in an attempt to find a 'cause' other than the fact that he's just plain disgusting. And now we find that he was soliciting a teenager while voting. So which is it - was he engaging in this disgusting behavior sober or was he voting while intoxicated?

I'm no expert on the law, but isn't inviting an underaged kid for a drink some kind of "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" offense, too?

Oh, and if this guy "never actually did anything" with any of these kids I'm Captain fucking Kirk.

Does this man, a Representatives in the United States House, not understand basic English grammar? Does he not understand "you're" is the contraction of "you" and "are," and that "your" is a possessive?

Jesus! These mor-ans (that's intentional spelling, lurking Freeps!) are representing us?

88. Marc Foley's attorney says that Marc was molested as a child...
...so being a victim now that he has become a grown adult male in spite of the successes he has achieved he was compelled to molest other youngsters.:wtf:

That may work for audience guest appearances on Oprah Winfrey or Dr. Phil but for a U.S. Congressman to use this kind of adult child victimization is pure bullshit. Marc Foley needs to do prison time.

90. It Makes You Wonder...
How many other Republicans/Neocons are living in the closet, with either gay impulses or some other form of alternate lifestyle? I suppose this means that the right wing will be pressing all the more for the "Defense of Marriage" act. I suppose also that the right wing will have to prove themselves diehard straight all the more, given the outrageous incident of Mr. Foley and his young boys.

Also---I wonder what Mr. Foley's wife thinks of this situation. It must not be too hot under the sheets tonight, I suppose. That "Defense of Marriage" act might come in handy about now, especially for Mr. Foley...:sarcasm:

91. Rawstory say the bill in question was HR 1559
Emergency Wartime Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2003
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Foley_had_cybersex_in_House_chamber_1003.html

Basically it was the initial $62 billion to pay for the war.

Geez, I knew Republicans had a hard-on for war, but this is both sick and ridiculous :puke:
