15 military men rape a child and shove knives up children when they're done or shotgun them.
women cry there is no one to go to.

1. It is so horrible. Raping little kids. It is almost impossible just to
watch.

In Iraq they are torturing kids with drills, etc. before they kill them.

Lunatics lining little girls up in school houses and executing them.

My brain and heart can't take anymore.

4. somehow.
I think this Darfur reality on CNN now is somehow related to Foley. What he did to kids is almost kind, isnt it? or innocent? compared.

There are no coincidences in mess media.

I am glad someone is talking about this stuff :(

We need to hear this kind of stuff...Americans live in a bubble :(

23. Same with the school shootings.
I'm not suggesting that the shootings (or CNN's programming for that matter) are anything more than coincidence, but there does seem to be some subtle spin going on here.

The African Union failed to stop the violence, but the US is bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan.

9. If only the people there said they had WMD and hated
Americans and had some oil. Then maybe Bush would give a shit about the oil.

24. China has troops on the ground there....protecting oil extraction
That's why we can't get anything through the security council on the subject, and believe me they've tried several times.

14. If the U.S. hadn't alienated the entire frigging world over the past
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 10:16 PM by bullwinkle428
5 years, there would have been a reasonable chance for some kind of U.N. peacekeeping mission, which would most certainly require a large percentage of U.S. troops. It just sickens me when I think of all of that international good will in the days following 9/11 that was just pissed away by those miserable creeps in charge...

16. Anderson Cooper deserves credit for this
Africa is not on the list of "hot topics" but Cooper is doing his damndest to draw attention to it.

He has been covering this for years, and I think he does have a sincere sense of mission to highlight what is happening there.

Judos to him for that. And a grudging kudo to CNN for letting him do it.

22. It's probbably a combination
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 08:29 AM by Armstead
It's the news, so he has to cover whatever's going on, and he's directed by the editors and producers.

But he also seems to have a lot of leeway to initiate things he might be interested too.

He's been covering AFrica for a long time. I think that's a case where he has the freedom to pursue that.

20. And the worst part is they are still better off without our assistance
Shock And Awe won't stop the rapes. Unless we kill all the women with bombs and liberate the hell out of them like in Iraq.
