I hate to say it but the party in charge of investigating Foleygate...
...is the same one that ran the 9-11 Commission. Does anyone here really think we'll get honest answers to the questions of who knew what and when?

2. Maybe. I think Foley is digging a deeper hole by blaming booze and the
supposed fact he was abused as a kid. The longer he takes to truly take the blame, the longer this thing festers.

4. they are also the same one
deeply in bed with Abramoff

However, there ARE 2 issues running side by side - Foley's actions and the cover-up. Which is worse?

If you notice - Foley's Folly Focus is shifting from Foley and his e-mail/IMs to Hastert - making this a political issue and not one of concern over criminal behavior

To date the republican party of responsiblity has blamed Clinton and Dems for the scandal. Foley, himself, has blamed it on alcholism and being molested as a young boy.

Meanwhile, the white house has pretty much kept quiet except for a statement or two about being dismayed, shocked and statements about supporting Hastert. I could almost here a sigh of relief from rove's office "...at least they aren't talking about Iraq..."

Woodward's new book, State of Denial, has been getting some press attention - but not what it would have gotten if Foley's Folly hadn't emerged (sex sells). But, keep in mind there's still about 5 weeks until the (s)election - plenty of time for more surprises.

sidenote: regarding State of Denial - I called around to 3 big bookstores in my area to see if they had the book in stock - it's been sold out and I was told more copies will be available in 3-5 days...

6. The Real Investigation Begins Nov. 8th
Our jobs right now is to get the new investigators in place. People do want this scandal investigated and I'm finding many who were hesitant about Democrats investigating are now eager to see some, if not all, of this regime's corruption looked into.

The drip drip drip of this story seems to indicate there's a couple more bombshells on the way and that the GOOP leadership knows it. They tapdancing as long as they can...delay where they can and hope new skeletons don't show up. Starting an investigation now hastens the day those landmines explode and Hastert's sweating bullets he can keep more secrets and embarassments squirreled away until after the election.
