ABC Banner: Fordham Resigns
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 12:59 PM by Rose Siding
FORMER FOLEY CHIEF OF STAFF KIRK FORDHAM RESIGNS AMID QUESTIONS OVER WHETHER HE SUPRESSED INFORMATION ABOUT FOLEY EMAILS

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=2526871&page=1

This morning I noticed that he and his lawyer weren't exactly on the same page (as it were).

In the Buffalo News:

Politics "was not even a factor in my consideration," Fordham said.

While his attorney told the LAT:

"It was an attempt to shield his boss from the political storm."

He was Foley's, then he moved to Reynold's staff. When the scandal broke
he supposedly went of his own accord to go and help Foley. Supposedly Reynolds didn't know that his own Chief of Staff was off doing damage control for his old boss. Supposedly, this guy was a notorious "fixer" for Foley from way back.

18. He used to work for Foley, was currently working for Reynolds...
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 01:03 PM by Spazito
Foley called him for help when the scandal broke and Fordham was the staffer that tried to get the ABC reporter not to publish the IMs, promising him that if he didn't make the IMS public, he would give him an exclusive on Foley's resignation.

Edited to add: Reynolds said he had not given permission for Fordham to do anything for Foley but Fordham said Reynolds told him to get Foley to resign, there is an article on this on LBN, will see if I can find it.

Here it is:

32. This part of the ABC article is very interesting...
People familiar with Fordham's side of the story, however, said Fordham was being used as a scapegoat by Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

They said Fordham had repeatedly warned Hastert's staff about Foley's "problem" with pages, but little was done.

So, will Fordham fall on his sword or sing like a canary? Looks like he's gonna sing. Not good news for Hastert. Not at all....
