In the coming weeks you'll talk about the Mark Foley scandal. Which is about to become a generalized Republican scandal.

Anyway, when you talk about Mr. Foley and his partners in crime, you're certain to be told that it wasn't so bad because Bill Clinton did it first.

You, the conscientious Democrat, who knows that the quintessential Clinton hater also hates gays and pedophiles, should immediately point out that not only was Monica Lewinsky of legal age in every state in the Union, Monica Lewinsky was also a woman. Neither of which is applicable to Foley's targets.

Make sure to carry a shovel with you...you'll need it to scrape up the exploding heads.

that Monica Lewinsky, being born in 1973, was 22 or 23 at the time she serviced Bill Clinton, a good 6 or 7 years older than the boys Foley was after.

3. The woman part really isn't the issue here - Foley preyed on

young guys, but could just as easily have been doing the same with young women. It would have been just as wrong and illegal (not to mention gotten a few fathers oiling up their shotguns) Don't make this a gay issue, it isnt'

4. One suspects

That a few fathers might now be not oiling up shotguns but in touch with their attorneys. This could be very, very bad for Mr Foley and those that allowed it to happen. Me thinks that it will be a long time in the courts.

7. It's more a hypocrisy issue

The official GOP party line is very anti-gay.

Mark Foley himself was publicly anti-gay. He was a sponsor of the Defense of Marriage Act, for instance. I think that if you went through Foley's votes you'd find that he voted consistently anti-gay.

Now we find out he's running around the internets trolling for gay sex with minors.

Injecting his sexual orientation in it is for one reason only: to really, really piss off the freepers, who think no gay man would ever become a Republican.

6. You forget another important point

Monica pursued Bill. That's almost as important as the fact that she was of age. Creepy Mark pursued underage boys.
