As Letterman would say....
Please keep in mind this is only an exhibition it is not a competition, please no wagering.

7. Hastert is a clingon- I picked the weekend |
|
It may even be further off, as they try to paint the dems. as having the correspondence in their hot little hands.
As Carville said, when they throw Hastert over, there is going to be a big splash.

8. I don't believe he will before the election... |
|
On the surface it is entirely unclear to me how it would do him any good. Folks living in his district might tell us something about how they see this playing out. The failings of the Republican leadership in holding their party accountable for years isn' going to go away with just Hastert's resignation.
IMO, if the storm of revelations eases they'll have a chance to coalesce around some marginally plausible story and hang with it until after the elections.

9. They wouldn't want to downplay it---they'd want to showcase it, |
|
wouldn't they, to make the problem go away? "Look, he resigned, problem solved, can we stop talking about Foley please??"
