HISTORICAL NOTE: LBJ's administration quit in 1968 because for many months, they were shouted down at virtually every speaking engagement.

Today, just in the last 24 hours, the GOP finally got a taste of "opposing views" as well.

Turn volume up for best experience.

4. And it's great to see the crybaby Young Repubs who can't take it!
Scratch bullies and you find cowards inside. And there were plenty of young GOP cowards caught off guard at this Columbia U. event.

13. UNC kids confronted Ashcroft on 9/12
I had not heard of this at the time. http://www.geocities.com/nccantwait/ 50 stood up and walked out during a speech as he was explaining about warrentless wire tapping, chanting Give me Liberty or Give me daeth, and then picked up signs they had tucked away. Some confronted him outside later and yelling "Facist go home" and best of all began singing his stupid Eagle Soaring song.

14. That first clip was moronic
Kristol looked like the same one. That kind of circle-jerking crap is why I don't go to "controversial" campus lectures anymore. I went to one like that, where there were 12 police on hand even before anybody started talking, and it was just sooo awkward and nothing was resolved. Why bother?

16. Rocky, I'll tell you why bother:
MEDIA!

First story appears in the UTexas student newspaper, and they have 50,000 students (about). Second story appears in the Austin-American Statesman, from where it could get picked up by other media. From there it goes to progressive talk radio. Etc.

But even if other media ignores the event, perhaps the most important exposure in the next 5 weeks will come from sites like YouTube and Google Video, where the whole world has the opportunity to see neocons squirming under the bright, disinfecting sunlight of confrontation.

20. Kristol looked like the 'same' one?

Did you mean 'sane' one? Kristol NEVER looks sane to me!!

Why bother??? Isn't it about TIME people started 'bothering'?? It's always awkward in the beginning when only the few fearless will stand up and confront the lying traitors. We were considered radicals and unamerican for speaking out against Vietnam too ... til the rest of the American public caught up.

26. kristol not only had the campus
police there.

He had a personal contigent of secret Service there.

Wrap your head around that for a while, considering he's not elected to anything.

25. I find your comment quite humorous
Today, just in the last 24 hours, the GOP finally got a taste of "opposing views" as well.

Considering that the Austin group gave the heads up and invited Aaron Dykes (conservative UT graduate and employee of Infowars). The guy who was the one that made the most noise and was escorted from the event.

The Texas media tried to pin this on liberals so I can see how you might be confused. But if you were to talk to Dykes he would be in 100% support of the second speaker and guest of the collage Republicans, Jim Gilchrist. The same one who was interupted when the protestors took the stage.

28. LOL, I guess it all
comes down to what the meaning of opposing views mean?

See this guy...the one with the backpack, well, he's no Dem.

He's Aaron Dykes, an Infowars reporter and a minuteman type closed border conservative.

29. Out of a 5000-seat auditorium and an 800-seat lecture hall
at Columbia University and the University of Texas, respectively, rooms loaded with hundreds of vocal liberals, you focus on one guy. And had that one guy not attended, it wouldn't have changed the overall character of these events.
