James DOBSON: Foley's Stalking of Children Little More Than A Joke
Sunday, October 08, 2006

Conservative Christian leader James Dobson says Mark Foley's stalking of children was little more than "a joke"
by John in DC - 10/08/2006 11:01:00 AM

When one of the top leaders of the religious right describes a child sex predator as participating in little more than "a joke," you know these disgusting excuses for Christians no longer stand for family or values, or God.

As it turns out, Mr. Foley has had illicit sex with no one that we know of, and the whole thing turned out to be what some people are now saying was a -- sort of a joke by the boy and some of the other pages.

Disgusting, and a flat-out lie. One page - one - said he wasn't necessarily interested in having sex with Foley, but was seeing how far Foley would go in the chat. But they have now found numerous pages who Foley apparently pursued.

52. ANOTHER article about Dobson on Foley
Public reaction from the American right, about the widening Foley scandal, has been called "mendacity as performance art". But the scandal's widening circle of contagion seems to be infecting leaders of the Christian right like a sort of viral Tourette's Syndrome that compels its victims to inadvertantly blurt out incriminating statements implying moral hypocrisy and attitudes of underlying moral relativism. The unwillingness of Christian right leaders - such as James Dobson, Tony Perkins, and others - to condemn GOP complicity in covering for a sexual predator in Congress, and their attempts to avoid the issue and shift blame elsewhere, betrays dynamics typical of scandal : it's usually not the crime or the scandal itself that does the worst damage, it's the coverup.

On Friday, October 6, Focus On The Family's radio broadcast was an "Update On The Foley Incident" and featured a conversation, between James Dobson and Focus On The Family Vice President Tom Minnery, in which an obviously angry Dobson wondered what the Foley scandal had to do with him and Tom Minnery aired a rather suprising concern : "I fear that we're in a society in which you will he held to the standards which you claim." Did Minnery say - with Dobson in tacit agreement, in effect, "I'm concerned that American society won't tolerate moral hypocrisy" ? ( Inside is a partial transcription of the conversation. ) In a related story, a keen eyed blogger on the Daily Kos noticed a statement, from Tony Perkins, that implied Perkins has long known of Mark Foley's habit of pursuing underage Congressional pages.

53. And another
James Dobson interrupted his regularly scheduled program, Focus on the Family, this morning to focus instead on the Mark Foley affair. He wasted no time in condemning the behaviour of Congressman Foley but was otherwise completely silent on the accusations that the Republican leadership covered up the whole affair for months.

Details follow:

(The show is available at http://family.org/fmedia/broadcast/a0042225.cfm if you can bear to hear it all for yourself!)

As always, Dobson begins his show with his now famous weasel words before any liberal bashing session: "We're not trying to tell you how to vote. We're just telling you to vote." This statement has about as much meaning as the phrase "for entertainment purposes only" on the bottom of an infomercial screen. Curious how the IRS seems to be completely bamboozled by it, though.

Then, after assuring his constituents that he really does condemn Mark Foley's actions (two or three times for good measure), Dobson delivers a Republican talking points tour-de-force:

42. This is a man who advocates beating children until they cry real tears
and who suggests that fathers should shower with their young sons and make sure they get a good look at their penis, "to see how big it is".

If people haven't left Dobson yet, they sure as hell won't leave him over this.

Most likely, they will come around to his talking points and be ok with it.

I mean, its not like any of the moral majority actually believes any of this shit...

Abramoff's Evangelical Soldiers

What Dobson neglected to mention--and has yet to discuss publicly--is his own pivotal role in one of Abramoff's schemes. In 2002 Dobson joined a coterie of Christian-right activists, including Tony Perkins, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, to spearhead Abramoff's campaigns against the establishment of several Louisiana casinos that infringed on the turf of Abramoff's tribal clients. Dobson and his allies recorded messages for phone banking, lobbied high-level Bush Administration officials and took to the airwaves. Whether they knew it or not, these Christian soldiers' crusade to protect families in the "Sportsmen's Paradise" from the side effects of chronic slot-pulling and dice-rolling was funded by the gambling industry and planned by the lobbyist known even to his friends as "Casino Jack."

The only Christian-right activist confirmed to be completely aware of Abramoff's rip-off was Ralph Reed. He and Abramoff have a long and storied history together. When Abramoff chaired the College Republican National Committee in the early 1980s, Reed served as the organization's executive director. They reunited in 1989, when Abramoff helped Reed organize the remains of Pat Robertson's failed 1988 presidential bid into the Christian Coalition. In 1997, with the Christian Coalition under IRS investigation and Reed facing accusations of cronyism from the group's chief financial officer, he left to start his own consulting firm, Century Strategies. Reed contacted Abramoff right away. "I need to start humping in corporate accounts," Reed told him in 1998. "I'm counting on you to help me with some contacts."

Though Abramoff apparently was not fond of Reed, he viewed him as useful. "I know you (we!) hate him , but it does give us good cover and patter to have him doing stuff," he wrote in a February 14, 2002, e-mail to his business partner, Michael Scanlon. "Let's give him a list of things we want...and give him some chump change to get it done." Reed thus became Abramoff and Scanlon's liaison to the Christian right, enlisting his evangelical allies into a web of shadowy casino hustles for "chump change."

Reed's first sleight of hand was enticing Perkins, Falwell and Robertson to try to block a 2001 bill in the Louisiana legislature loosening restrictions on riverboat casinos, which would have posed a competitive threat to Abramoff's clients, the Coushattas. At the time, Perkins was a right-wing State Representative hailed by Reed as the legislature's "anti-gambling leader."

16. This fucker gets into power struggles
and beats his little dachshund dog for wanting to sit on a warn fuzzy toilet seat cover. He is an ENABLER and a psychopath himself so of course he has an interest in defending Foley perversions, because he too is defending his sickness and evilness in himself. Who knows what he has done behind closed doors and when the victims of Dobson's insanity will step forth and speak up.To see that control freak Dobson die alone in jail is not enough to pay for his high crimes and tyranny against the human spirit ,his little dog,his own kids(he is a child abuser)and this country..
------------------------------------------------------------------
"When I told Sigmund (Dobsons Dog)to leave his warm seat and go to bed, he flattened his ears and slowly turned his head toward me. He deliberately braced himself by placing one paw on the edge of the furry lid, then hunched his shoulders, raised his lips to reveal the molars on both sides, and uttered his most threatening growl. That was Siggie's way of saying. "Get lost!"

"I had seen this defiant mood before, and knew there was only one way to deal with it. The ONLY way to make Siggie obey is to threaten him with destruction. Nothing else works. I turned and went to my closet and got a small belt to help me "reason" with Mr. Freud."

"What developed next is impossible to describe. That tiny dog and I had the most vicious fight ever staged between man and beast. I fought him up one wall and down the other, with both of us scratching and clawing and growling and swinging the belt. I am embarrassed by the memory of the entire scene. Inch by inch I moved him toward the family room and his bed. As a final desperate maneuver, Siggie backed into the corner for one last snarling stand. I eventually got him to bed, only because I outweighed him 200 to 12!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. James Dobson has made a career off of two industries--running the largest dominionist political group in the US (one which was recently found to have registered itself as a church with the IRS--this should hopefully lead to some investigation).

His other major business is targeting families--and particularly children. Some of it is in the method of recruitment of kids--most infamously in the giveaways of CDs from "Adventures in Odyssey", a radio programme produced by Focus on the Family and targeted at the elementary school set.

The other way he targets kids isn't so innocuous; in fact, he is one of the primary promoters--and probably the most successful--of "Biblically based child-beating". In fact, he makes a healthy living by it--over $25 million dollars of Focus on the Family's income yearly is from royalties from Dr. Dobson's "child-training" manuals, all of which are used to fund dominionism and printing of more of his books.

------------------------------------------------------------------

"There really are people and institutions made up of people, who respond with hatred in the presence of goodness and would destroy the good in so far as it is in their power to do so. They do this not with conscious malice but blindly, lack awareness of their own evil… indeed, seeking to avoid any such awareness. As has been described of the devil in religious literature, they hate the light and instinctively will do anything to extinguish it. They destroy the light in their own children and in all other beings subject to their power.

Evil people hate the light because it reveals themselves to themselves. They hate goodness because it reveals their badness; they hate love because it reveals their laziness. They will destroy the light, the goodness, and the love in order to avoid the pain of such self-awareness.

IMO a lot of these bozos ought to just come clean and come out--if they were straight with the Lord, they wouldn't have to pray so fervently and constantly.

29. Dobson HATES children..
some QUOTES of HIS..
From that manuel of child abuse, Dare to discipline..

Dobson calls children demeaning names such as: tyrant, dictator, little spitfire, terrors, brat, bratty, rebel, tornado, "little fat-fingers", "fat little legs" and "spindly legs."

Dobson says: “A toddler is the most hard-nosed opponent of law & order” is “selfish” “demanding” “rebellious” “destructive” “a tiger” “a butterball” an “anarchist” and has “fat little legs.”

p.29 Dobson says parents must not “yield authority to their infants.” “A child’s resistant behavior always contains a message to his parents, which they must decode before responding. That message is often phrased in the form of a question: ‘Are you in charge or am I?’ A distinct reply is appropriate to discourage future attempts to overthrow constituted government in the home.”

p.59 Children should not set their own boundaries “in defiance of parents.”

(panther asks..What boundaries? Ones like don't beat, dehumanize and rape me..Fuck you Dobson you psychopath!)

68. If child disobeys in public, remove him “to a place where there is privacy” to hit them, in order to avoid “critical onlookers” who might intervene..

(Fucking asshole he KNOWS what he does is wrong. But see he hides it because he knows it is evil to beat a child..Why isn't this child beating thug in JAIL yet?
Sekhmet Rain your arrows upon him ,make him bow to Maat.Devour his rancid heart NOW Ammit!,Make his name stink like his soulessness for all to witness.)

(panther thinks..I HATE Dobson because he is EVIL ASSHOLE! I would love to crack a belt on him. all the Dominionists and thier kind..who use"the rod" are evil because being feared by childrenis thier goal.

Dobson and his dominionist bullies are out to ABUSE the most vulnerable of humanity in the name of good! BEWARE. These psychopaths should not be trusted with any privacy, with spouses, children, a church congregation, or the government.EVER.

If I told my pastor when I was sixteen that a fifty two year old man asked me to measure my erect penis and share masturbation techniques with him he would not have had Mr. Dobson's reaction. But that was before the Baptist church became a auxilliary of the Republican party.

Like Jesus said " You can not serve two masters. You will learn to love one and hate the other." Some so called men of God love the power they get by serving government more than they do from serving God.

When I went to Sunday School they taught us about moral probity, being kind to others, respectful of our parents...They didn't teach us to support the Republican agenda.

Los Angeles Times/September 22, 2004
By William Lobdell
A former Trinity Broadcasting Network employee who was paid $425,000 to keep quiet about his claims of a homosexual tryst with televangelist Paul Crouch has disclosed details of his complaint, saying that he had felt forced to engage in the alleged sexual acts to keep his job.

Enoch Lonnie Ford, 41, said he was going public with his story because he believes TBN officials breached a confidentiality agreement that was part of a 1998 settlement that provided the payment to him. Network officials broke the agreement, he contends, by issuing a statement last week responding to a news account of the ministry's legal effort to silence him. TBN's statement described the circumstances of the settlement and highlighted Ford's criminal background.

Crouch, 70, is president and popular on-air personality of Orange County-based TBN, the world's largest religious broadcaster.

38. What the Pages did is NOT IMPORTANT, joke or not.
The ISSUE is that Foley used minors for criminal sexual gratification.
The Leadership of the Republican Party KNEW, and COVERED UP for him.
PERIOD.
End of Discussion.

40. GOP to Canonize Foley as a Saint
Witnesses have testified to the miracles he performed, including the gifts of laughter, jokes, and merry amusement he brought to a sad and depressed world. Altar Boys dressed as cherubs and seraphs will attend the Canonization ceremonies.

These guys won't stop until they've buried themselves. Everybody, keep handing them shovels!

46. Dobson, himself is a very, very sick individual.
If you have read any stories about his life and upbringing, you can easily deduce that the guy is in desperate need of long-term therapy.

47. Dobson, Focus On the Family Dobson?
The one with the website that warns of the perils of internet stalkers?

"One in five children is sexually solicited online, according to Online Victimization: A Report on the Nation's Youth, issued by NCMEC, the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the University of New Hampshire's Crimes Against Children Research Center. Researchers talked to 1,501 children ages 10-17 and published their results in June 2000. They found that 70 percent of inappropriate solicitations of children occur while a child is using a home computer. Yet only 25 percent of children receiving a sexual solicitation told a parent or guardian."

That James Dobson?

What a fucking hypocrit, and I mean that literally.

Why is the GOP protecting internet stalkers preying on children?

51. You know what's funny, freak?
The time that you wrote in your book how fathers should take their young sons into the shower with them and show them how their penis is bigger than their sons in order to make sure the kid knows who's the boss in the house.

Hilarious.

Sounds like he's covering for his own pedophilia tendencies.

55. I stopped giving donations to my church because they sponsor
James Dobson's Focus on the Family propaganda. They include his latest talking points in every church bulletin along with his picture next to it.
