I ask this because we've been told this already regarding some VERY important issues that were left unresolved. You cannot build a future on corrupt foundations, and things cannot simply be swept under the rug and forgotten.

If we had stayed with the Iran Contra issue (and all the seedy side issues that came from that regarding shadow governments) until we had truly cleaned up those implicated then it's unlikely we would be where we are today. Or at least we wouldn't be dealing with the very SAME people who were behind it. Instead they simply burrowed in their holes, plotting their coup until they became stronger and insideous. There were never any real consequences for their criminal activities. Now the dirty laundry list has become a novel about the dark side. Granted, we've been given a HUGE lesson in what happens when you simply "move on" and don't attend to corruption by nipping it in the budd.

So what can we expect from the Dems to show they are willing to really clean House? Their own as well as the corrupt elements in the GOP? A few token heads will roll, but the list of criminals is so long, and their established burrows so deep into our government, there is MUCH work to do.

Will we be simply satisfied with a 'win' or how will we proceed?

2. I fear so. :(
And, judging by some of the threads here, that is just fine with the "grassroots".

It's only our country, after all.

3. Had we gone after Iran-Contra to the fullest extent....
we would have brought down the House of Bush and Reagan's "legacy".

4. We didn't even clean ranks while we were out of power.
I don't think that it's ever going to happen.

15. A note from Muchkinland,

Boy, your asking a lot from people who haven't even won the election yet...

IF Howard Dean's strategy works and
IF people actually get off their ass to vote and
IF Dems win the House and Senate and
IF there are enough progressive candidates then
Maybe, you should start worrying about these things.

As they say in Munchkinland, it's always best to start at the beginning and
It's a long way to the Emerald City Dorothy, so pace yourself.

Yes, a house got dropped on one wicked witch
but her sister's still alive and mad as hell
the munchkins are rejoicing of being freed from their molester
but the flying monkey right are still flapping
through the airwaves
They wish to do you harm
so be brave, dear Dorothy
and remember, it will take brains, courage and heart
just to get you through the dark forest of elections
then past the kool-aid induced sleep of the 'faithful'
if by chance you get past all this and eventually
get to the great Oz
maybe then you'll get the chance
to see Kansas, once again.

6. The Dems, if allowed any measure of power,
will absolutely *not* see justice done. Capitalism and corporatism are not about justice.

Move along. Nothing to see here. "Bipartisan" cooperation. Heal the divisions.

7. I won't be surprised if we're told that
But Conyers and Waxman won't stand for it. I think we will have investigations.

12. Unless they decare Martial Law and cancel/steal the elections,
Bushler&Co. are toast. They only way they can remain in power is to officilly and openly decare a dictatorship.

Heads are gonna roll.

not a simple task or for those who are feint of heart. How many people do you know in the Dem Party are up to it? Are WE up to it? It will take extreme tenacity and stength. So easy to just get lost to the euphoria of 'winning' without examining what's really been won.

I'm not talking about revenge. I'm talking about cleaning house and getting to the root of problems along with the creation of solutions.

14. Well, I'm talking about cleaning house AND revenge!
Maybe if you were here in New Orleans a year ago like me, you might feel even more strongly about seeking JUSTICE.

I want *AT LEAST* war crimes tribunals.

16. I know that there is a faction within the Democratic Party that will want
to "move on". But, the faction within the Democratic Party that will not "move on" is larger.
