"U.S. Marine Base Probes Missing Laptop"
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A laptop computer loaded with personal information on 2,400 residents of the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base has been lost, authorities said Friday.

The computer was reported missing Tuesday by Lincoln B.P. Management Inc., which helps manage base housing.

The company and Camp Pendleton are investigating. As of Friday, investigators had not found evidence that the data had been accessed, the base said in a statement.

Authorities would disclose what kind of information was on the computer.

2. How long does the stupidity continue or is it stealth? How many
say the laptops have been stolen to populate the Poindexter (data) mining machines - how many say they were allowed to be stolen to populate the pOindexter (data) mining machines.

This is an average of one in three Americans with personal data "stolen" in about 1 1/2 years!.

I was one and no one notified me for about a month. Lucky so far, no repercussions. And after spending 9 years repairing excellent credit destroyed by an ex, I was so angry that no one bothered to inform me immediately. Slather-asses unite!

TIA lives.
