Is there anything more we can do to stop Alito?
We've called over and over again. We've faxed. We've told our friends to do the same. Is there anything more we can do to influence our senators to stop the nomination with a filibuster?

1. just got this:
FILIBUSTER ALITO NOW

Senate Democrats refuse to signal whether or not they will filibuster Alito. They appear to have 41 votes, since Ben Nelson (D-NE) is the only one of 44 Democrats who supports Alito. Jim Jeffords (I-VT) should oppose Alito, and 5 Republicans - Lamar Alexander (TN), Lincoln Chafee (RI) Susan Collins (ME), Olympia Snowe (ME), and Ted Stevens (AK) - are undecided.

We've called and called, but we need to call our Senators again and DEMAND A FILIBUSTER: TOLL FREE - 888-355-3588 or 888-818-6641

For extra credit, use the same numbers to call all the 2008 Presidential candidates who are sitting Senators - Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Russ Feingold, and John Kerry - and tell them to either LEAD THE FILIBUSTER or FORGET ABOUT YOUR SUPPORT. You can also send that message to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (202-224-2447) and the Democratic National Committee (202-863-8000).

THE CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT

Our 40th Year

The San Francisco Bay Guardian this week outlines the case for impeaching President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Guardian, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, is one of the first newspapers in the country to call for impeaching the president.

The article, written by City Editor Steven T. Jones, cites top Constitutional lawyers and scholars as well as political figures to make the case that Bush and Cheney have abused executive authority to the point where they may well have committed impeachable offenses.

The article chronicles a growing grassroots movement that has largely escaped the notice of the mainstream news media. Jones' piece and an accompanying note by Executive Editor Tim Redmond, chide the leadership of the Democratic Party for its failures to press the impeachment issue.

Google ImpeachPAC!

George Bush wants to know what you've been Googling. If Bush wants to use Google to find out what Americans are secretly thinking, let's tell him - LOUD AND CLEAR.

Please visit http://Google.com right now and type this:

IMPEACHPAC

When you get the Google search results, click on the very first link for IMPEACHPAC.

Once you visit IMPEACHPAC, we hope you'll send a second message by making a small donation to help us elect pro-impeachment candidates to Congress. Our goal is $100,000, and we're over half-way there.

You can also send a message directly to your Representative and Senators urging them to Impeach Bush:

http://democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/65

Please Google IMPEACHPAC right now. Why now? Because every Monday, Google publishes a list of the top 15 search words for the week.

And forward this message to your friends. If we can get millions of people to Google IMPEACHPAC, we will create a media firestorm and prove to George Bush and the Corporate Media that Americans want to IMPEACH BUSH NOW.

IMPEACHMENT FORCED INTO NEWS AND ONTO MCLAUGHLIN GROUP

The McLaughlin Group political talk show devoted much of its discussion this past Sunday to the topic of impeachment. You deserve the credit for that. Steve Thomma of Knight Ridder said on the show that he receives 20-50 emails a day supporting impeachment and that he thinks the emails are "organized." He's right! They are organized here:
http://democrats.com/bush-impeachment-polls

The clip that McLaughlin plays from the Murtha-Moran town hall forum doesn't show either of them saying a word. Rather it shows the hundreds of us who were packed in the room cheering for impeachment.

The quote McLaughlin reads from Al Gore is not from his speech, but from his response to a reporter's question afterwards on impeachment -- what people in the room were promoting with flyers and shouts.

Just as we forced the Downing Street Minutes into the news, we are forcing impeachment into the news. And Congress will follow. Please take a minute to contact the major media and to write a letter to the editor of your local paper. It could save this country. Here are some tips:

Let taxi horns blare and church bells ring, as we bring our own state of the union message: BUSH STEP DOWN!

3. Called the first three...

...while all said they would pass the message along, Bayh and Biden's staffers took the message without comment, while Hillary's gave me a brief lecture on how that line is supposed to be for her constituents, not callers from other states. :eyes:
