CSPAN2 has the FCC public hearing on media ownership on now
Edited on Tue Oct-10-06 04:36 AM by Skidmore
Lots of good public feedback to the FCC on preserving diversity of voices on the airwaves and free speech. All members of the FCC present at this one, which I believe was in LA.

1. The public comments have been terrific!
This commission has been called out but good.

2. Did you hear that one guy tell the FCC Chair that he was in danger
of becoming the next Brownie? He did an excellent job and following the money from Clear Channel to their donations to the * campaign and the decisions of the FCC. There was a woman who actually called the FCC out for being bribed by Clear Channel to stop an investigation of a DJ named "Mikey" in the SW.

4. That woman did a great job of showing how media ownership
directly affects community life! I was cheering for her in my livingroom. lol

I also liked that one guy who said, "You will go down in history as a Bush croney and you're too young to have your name RUINED."

:)

3. The FCC has become one of the biggest cesspools......
in the Bush Administration. I say "one of the biggest" because the entire Federal Government has become polluted under Bush's reign. That's the Rovian idea though, to control the airwaves and thus the message that Americans hear and see. One of the first things the new Democratic Wave is going to have to tackle is the Bush propaganda machine. It won't be easy, but neither will any of the hundreds of other government agencies that have the Bush "taint" on them.

5. Maybe we can pull it off. Those attendees were PISSED.
Someone --blm? -- posted a thread the other day about how tired people are of this very real culture of corruption in our government. Democrats could run on that, imho. At least one person expresses that to me every day.
