I want revenge for what these RW Facists have done to my country. I want the Democratic party to exact a pound or two of flesh from them when some power is restored to us.

revenge can be like a cancer, eating you up and keeping you from doing what needs to be done-restoring our country to Justice and Peace by using Truth.

8. You said it... WE ARE BETTER THAN THEY ARE.. |
|
I'm not saying revenge wouldn't feel good, and I'm not even saying they don't deserve it, but WE ARE BETTER THAN THEY ARE. I bet there are lots of legal ways to give them a hard time, but outright revenge isn't an option.
If we can just get control again, we could put much of their leadership in jail legitimately.. Not for revenge, but to uphold the law.

13. On revenge I agree, but there are times when one needs |
|
to stoop down to the gutter level to grasp miscreants by the neck in order to haul them up to the same level as the rest of humanity.
Think of it as a public service.

I will rest in the knowledge that God alone is the Avenger. Sure, what these creatures have done is not right, by whatever moral code you live by. But to seek revenge only brings one down to their level. What we must strive to do is to uphold Truth, Justice, and Peace-when this happens, all will be rectified, and those repukes who have attempted to destroy our nation will be brought down, not by our actions, but by theirs alone.

9. Who says revenge can't be just? |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 12:28 PM by Skidmore
After my first marriage ended, my revenge was to live my life well.
After our national divorce, the best revenge would be to restore law and order and economic justice. Taxes to fund reparations and reregulation. Restore free speech.
We need to quit going to the battle armed with a teaspoon.

11. Then you aren't talking about revenge |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 12:48 PM by meganmonkey
Revenge is something done in retaliation, to get back at someone.
I would guess that living your life well after your divorce was done to make your life better, not to piss off your ex. Maybe it did piss off your ex, but that probably wasn't your ultimate motivation. And if it was, then I guess I would have to define 'living well' differently than you.
And with the 'national divorce' (I really like that term, btw!) we aren't going to fix all those things to piss off the RW, we will do it to make the U.S. a better, freer, more Democratic place. Yes, it will piss off the RWers, but that is their problem. We will have succeeded by improving our country.
I would take it so far as to say I hope they aren't pissed off, that they heal as we do and the whole nation can heal. But that is jsut the bleeding heart in me...

10. "what these RW Facists have done to my country" . . . |
|
let's be honest about this . . . "what these RW Fascists have done to my country" has been enabled and facilitated every step of the way by the Democrats . . . the war, the Patriot Act, bankruptcy "reform", Medicare Part D, budget cuts, all of it . . .
I too would like to extract revenge -- badly -- but we have to look clearly at just how much the Dems are part of the problem rather than part of the solution . . . and given that the Dems are as deeply indebted to their corporate overseers as are the Repugs, whether we can realistically expect change to happen any time soon . . . or at all . . .
I'm just sayin' . . .

15. Same here. The 1st order of business needs to be impeachment |
|
in 2007, if we retake the House. If we don't retake it, we still need to bring up impeachment charges, just so it's on the clown's record.
What they did to us, we should do back to them 10 times over. Enough of this taking the high road nonsense. Taking the high road with Republicans has practically crippled us. Revenge all the way!

16. The weird thing is that the GOP can be "sore winners." |
|
I borrowed the phrase "sore winners" from the title of a recent book. I forget the author's name.
Did anyone else read the front-page story in The New York Times about Senator Jon Kyl's (R-AZ) threats against future Democratic nominees? Kyl has won, after a fashion, due to the party-line vote for Alito in the Judiciary Committee, and here he is swearing revenge.
Saner Republicans have been saying for some time that they are worried it'll be payback time when the Democrats get back into control of Congress. They know that they've run a very partisan, increasingly acrimonious Congress, and they know their grip on power won't last forever.
Folks, don't be like these bastards. Say you want justice. Say you want to get something done for the people. Pat the GOP on the head and send it on its miserable way. But don't be like Kyl or, worse still, the vindictive Bush and Cheney.

18. I don't need revenge on the GOP Congress. |
|
After all, they are hardly any worse than the "democrats" who voted for the war and the Patriot Acts. They are just pathetic cowards who deserve to lose their seats.
However, I would like to see Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld rotting in a prison cell for the rest of their natural lives for their crimes, most notably, their complicity in the 9-11 attacks.
