Hastert Should NOT Resign!
Why not?

Because it will be so much more delicious when he gets his FAT ASS VOTED OUT in November!

1. That is true..
But it will also allow him to continue to get on camera and attempt to spin lie after lie....and look more foolish as the evidence continues to come out...

2. Chance of a snowball in hell.
Hastert lives in an extremely Republican district. He likely will get re-elected with an enormous plurality.

5. I believe that was in reference to us taking back the house...
and voting him out as speaker.

9. Hastert won't resign as speaker.
He may get elected out of that job. I certainly hope he does. But he won't resign before the election.

18. Voted Out
I was hoping that he'd get voted out of office. But, since you guys say that he's in a heavily Repug district...

13. Hastert usually wins
this district with percentages in the upper 60's. In 2004 it was 69%. He will not win by this much in November. He has been the rep. here since 1986 and this is the first time I can remember anything resembling a campaign against him. There are actually yard signs for his opponent, John Laesch. If Hastert wins by less than 15 percentage points it will be a tremendous blow to his prestige in this area.

15. Proud Yard Sign Owner :)
I live in Hastert's district, and DH and I drove around this weekend. We saw a noticable change, missing Hastert signs on private property. Of course his monster 4x6 plywood signs sit at every major undeveloped intersection, but at least I'm seeing Laesch signs popping up (including my front yard). And I'm seeing them on major roads with private homes that sit off of them. This is without question, a new development.

However, I doubt Laesch will win against hastert. it is sadly a very republican district. I think 2 years will be very telling though.

3. I have no idea why anyone on their side would tell him to stay...
every day it is more juicy and the longer some crooked slob tries to blame anyone else but himself is good.

11. plus it's good that he remains for a couple more weeks - it's equal to
pleading innocent or guilty ---> If you cop a plea your outcome usually isn't as bad then if say you said Hell No! I won't go? -- well in that case you usually end up in more dire situation/outcome.

of his seat in the House. Yet, if the Democrats take the House, he WILL lose the Speakership, and that will be a delicous result, also.

17. THAT'S RIGHT, COWBOYS--YOU GOT BEAT UP BY A BUNCHA FAIRIES!
I can't WAIT to say that to every repuke I meet, if this Foley scandal drags them down to where they lose the house and maybe the senate too.

And if that happens, I want to heartily shake the hand of EVERY SINGLE gay democrat I see, and congratulate them on hanging tough--to congratulate them on overcoming any worries that "gay people will be blamed", because folks, it's REPUBLICANS, not gay people, who are to blame for Foleygate.

I imagine the repukes sitting brooding about Foleygate, and one of them says, "I don't understand it... the democrats are always defending 'those people'... and if only we could've changed the subject enough to get the democrats to DEFEND Foley! After all, he IS homosexual--doesn't that make him kind of one of THEIR people??"

And I would like to reply to them: No, you BASTARDS, because it's the honest gays that are in the democratic party, and honest gays, like honest straights, do not approve of taking advantage of KIDS! So when you think some democrat will stand up to defend your sleazy little Florida congress-predator, all you'll get is shrugged shoulders and a look of contempt from us.

And it's pretty obvious that a democrat "fairy" can defeat a repuke "cowboy" any day of the week.
