Just now on Letterman, he was talking about Gore speaking of the war very candidly to him.. He says "I think parts of him think he was elected," which drew a giggle from Dave.
Fuck that!!!! He was elected!
He finally answers Dave's question about how much percent of the truth do we really know. Somehow, he brings up Clinton's answer to the same question , which was 1%. He says:"You mean there are other women?!?"
Fuck him that he can write a negative book and capitalize on our shittiest times and then make the same lame ass reliable Clinton blowjob jokes. He besmirches everything amazing he ever did. He sickens me.

Woodward has a dry sense of humor. After all he was on Letterman - a comedy show. Bush is reportedly "steamed" about the book. I appreciate anyone who can get the Blivet steaming.

Rumor has it that Karl Rove, Ken Mehlman, and Jeff Gannon stayed overnight in the Lincoln Bedroom and took turns reading it to him.

We cant afford for people who are supposedly on this side, to make light off ridiuclously important situations, such as installing a puppet prez via the SC.
That one is off limits bud, Gore was robbed, We are all , and will continue to be, paying the price for the massive fraudulent disaster..

Just reading it face value I didn't find it offensive. Sorta like the "internets" thing. Lord, with all the Bush jokes out there don't you think one republican somewhwere might be a little touchy? That said, in the climate of all the smashing events this past week, the republicans are a pretty humorless bunch now - what's it gonna be like on Nov. 8th?

31. Woodward is not on our side. |
|
I don't know why he chose to include some damaging pieces of truth in his latest ass-kissing tribute to republikkan rule.
I'm about 100 pages into the book and there is a pattern.
Most, if not all, republican policies are held up as goodness and light. Most, if not all, democratic policies are written about derisively, dripping with contempt.
Woodward is still selling the "failure of intelligence" as the reason for the Iraq invasion, instead of simple lying.
There is also the problem of Woodward reconstructing dialog in interviews where he was not present. Not only does he write dialog for the participants, but he tells you what they were thinking, a kind of clairvoyant "journalism" I've never seen before.
I bought the book, so I plan on finishing it, but I may need a barf bag beside my chair.

It's something I've observed in a lot of Americans, that they choose to remain ignorant, regardless of the opportunities they have to learn.
Fat, dumb and happy.
Very few Americans are evil and crazy as well.

40. I see His Fraudulency |
|
as stubbornly uninformed and definitely lacking in the ability to have critical thought required for his job. I see Cheney, and Rumsfeld as the evil twins behind Jr., taking advantage of his reckless inability to really comprehend consequences and his peculiar psychology, to 'persuade' him to do what they have more nefarious motivations to accomplish. In other words, the devil made him do it.

|
I like stubbornly uninformed as a description. To me, it's much more accurate than saying he's stupid and it keeps us away from the stereotype of "liberals calling everybody stupid."
OTOH, you are right about the lack of critical thought. It's like the man has some kind of learning disability that is reflected in the the way he mangles the English language.
I heard a scary and interesting take on him from the author of Bush on the Couch. He was on Randi Rhodes a week or two ago describing how W's upbringing makes him very rigid and unable to admit mistakes.
W's sister got sick and died when he was too young to understand it and too old to forget it. Immediately after his sister died, George Sr and Babs went on a golf binge. Apparently, they didn't see the need to talk with W about it or comfort him. Republikkan family values in action.

5. Haven't trusted him ever since he wrote his first |
|
butt-smooching Bush book. He seems to be a power player that goes where the wind is blowing. Also, much of his current criticism of Bush seems to me to be not that it was an immoral or criminal thing to do to invade Iraq, but rather that Bush screwed it up by listening to Rumsfeld. In Woodward's mind, if we had succeeded in conquering Iraq then everything would have been a-ok and Bush would have been a hero.

But Woodward seems to hold the view that Iraq was essentially a noble venture that was poorly handled. I can't subscribe to this, and I can't get behind anybody that does. A man of his experience and intelligence should know that our invasion of Iraq was illegal and a crime against humanity and international law. Woodward already wrote two books praising Bush before this. As far as I'm concerned, he's a hack. If he has now jumped on the bash Bush bandwagon then he's a useful hack, but a hack is still a hack. There's many journalists out there that are a thousand times better than him with way more integrity.

The Letterman show is comedy with a dose of truth - there's bound to be jokes about just anyone.
I can somewhat understand people being disgruntled because of jokes about Gore and Clinton.
But i don't understand how that means Woodward is "capitalizing on our shittiest times". Woodward wrote a very informative "negative" book about the worst presidency ever. There's plenty of reason to write about it and there's plenty reason to be negative about it. The more people know just how bad it is, the better.

32. But according to Woody, Bush is just well intentioned, a true believer, |
|
an optimist who's just a tad out of touch. "Everyone" knew/thought Iraq had WMD and was an imminent threat to the US and the world at large, it was just the "bad intel" from the CIA (although it was cooked up by Chalabi and the OSP and by Cheney beating on the CIA till they told him what he wanted to hear) that led them astray. That's Woodward's line and it's crap.
And according to Woody, that Plame thing, oh that was nothing, laughable, no harm, no foul, no national security interests/assets threatened. No concerted effort to discredit, do harm, just a few old boys engaging in idle gossip. Yeah, that's the ticket.
That's Woodward's position. If he really believes that he's deluded and woefully uninformed.
But I do agree that any exposure of the spectacular disaster of this Administration is a good thing. Woody's book will get folks' attention who wouldn't know or have read the many other really substantive books re: Bush administration/Iraq of the last few years.
