http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061011/NEWS02/610110357/1017Reports that a former page complained some five years ago about improper e-mails appeared to drop the "Pagegate" scandal directly into Rep. Sue Kelly's lap yesterday.
Rep. Jim Kolbe, an Arizona Republican who served on the Page Board with Kelly in 2000, released a statement yesterday saying about that time, a former page complained to him about receiving e-mails from then-Rep. Mark Foley that made him feel uncomfortable. Foley was forced to resign Sept. 29 after being confronted with sexually explicit e-mails he sent to underage male pages. Kolbe's comments yesterday put Foley's alleged improper advances much earlier than previously reported, about the period when Kelly, a six-term incumbent, was chairwoman of the Page Board.
The Katonah Republican angrily denied yesterday that anyone informed her about the complaint five or six years ago. Kolbe said he told Foley's office about it and reported it to then-House Clerk Jeff Trandahl.

The Foley scandal and other negative GOP factors were among the issues cited yesterday by Congressional Quarterly in changing Kelly's race from "Republican favored" to "leans Republican."- more . . .
