Evidence in Baghdad suggests the troops are dying for the election
..in November and for the Republicans, more specifically. The American troops have gone back into Baghdad and relieved the Shiite security forces - supposedly because of the ethnic cleansing that was going on against the Sunnis. Now, the Americans are dying as the violence has surged just before our elections in November. There is not proof at this time that the troops were ordered back into Baghdad in order to create some semblance of "success" before November and to better the chances of the Republicans, but the evidence points in that direction.

In 2004 they held off all major military action until after the election. The first Fallujah battle happened because Bushco overreacted and then left early for political reasons.

This time I can't tell if they are taking casualties because the are trying to do something about the problems or because the insurgency is that bad.
