So who thinks this is a cover for the increase in our Naval Forces in the Gulf? Perhaps KKKarl has his October surprise lined up as a limited strike attack on Iran? Has to have his ducks in a row for when they declare "diplomatic means" are exhausted after all...... Get * back his war pres mojo just in time for the elections.....

what do you think?

Naval interdiction exercise said planned for Gulf
Wed 11 Oct 2006 23:25:10 BST
WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Facing nuclear disputes with Iran and North Korea, the United States, Bahrain and other states will hold their first naval exercise in the Gulf this month to practice interdicting ships carrying weapons of mass destruction and missiles, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.

The exercise is taking place as the United States and other major powers are considering sanctions including possible interdiction of ships on North Korea, following a reported nuclear test, and on Iran, which has defied a U.N. Security Council mandate to stop enriching uranium.

The exercise, set for Oct. 31, is the 25th to be organized under the U.S.-led 66-member Proliferation Security Initiative and the first to be based in the Gulf near Bahrain, across from Iran, the officials said.

A senior U.S. official insisted the exercise is not aimed specifically at Iran, although it reinforces a U.S. strategy aimed at strengthening America's ties with states in the Gulf, where Tehran and Washington are competing for influence.

3. and o'lielly would be saying "If only Clenis had showed that much
courage NK would never have gotten a bomb. * HAD to act, painful though it was for him, to prevent Iran from getting a bomb too"

and unfortunately there is a regrettably large segment of our population that would buy into such BS......

4. A week before the mid-terms with no mandate or UN support?
I don't think it will have the desired effect...quite the opposite, actually.

5. Another 'Gulf of Tonkin Incident' being set up?
That's the thing about the Military-Industrial Complex:
Their "dirty tricks" playbook is only about half a page long.

But we the sheeple just keep falling for the same tired classic
maneuvers, decade in and decade out.

7. Wag the Elephant.
I'm hoping another 'strike' or 'war'would be the last straw with the folks here at home. I would hope anyway. Most are against the current war.

8. It's a Show of Force
Like when a cobra puffs itself up. But you have to absolutely believe the cobra will strike or you won't be frightened.

We can send a few bombs over, not that many because we haven't paid for the last ones we used, but we can't back up a bombing with an invasion. So we'd only look more impotent than we do now, and more people would hate us.

It's a grotesquely empty gesture, especially if it's mainly meant to impress the American public.

9. a month before the Iraq war Rep Tom Davis said that he feared we had
NO CHOICE but to go to war, after all - we had moved our forces over there and to "back down" would be seen as cowardice.

:wtf:

I have always thought that was the lamest most pathetic excuse for sending our troops into harms way.

I believe that * and company are insane enough to think another war would get amurikkkans back under their control.

10. Thom Hartmann was talking about Rove and the possiblity of an Oct
surprise. He was going into the Eisenhower going into the Persian Gulf, but then mentioned Rove and his fascination with President McKinley. As soon as he said that I knew where he was going. He told the story about the Maine going into Havana Harbor and how both sides were walking on eggshells. When the Maine exploded, all of a sudden McKinley had this "political capital."

Now we have the Eisenhower going to Iran at the end of October, Rove has been promising Republican bigwigs that there will be an October surprise, and Rove idolizing McKinley.
