2. Bush!!!
said Rove only allowed Falwell to attend provided he stay off camera.

this was after Falwell blamed 9/11 on gays.

3. Well, he was right about that.
Although I would have used the term 'skeery.' Or 'horrifying.' or maybe 'cadaverous.'

But 'frumpy' will do. :)

18. Considering the Size of Falwell
and inversly the small size of the building, how in the Hell did they keep him OFF camera? :)

Surely some part of him was showing most of the time.

Falwell taking ORDERS from Rove, now THAT is sweet, who exactly is HIS GOD Again?

This really has nothing to do with god and these asshole won't change their minds, NONE of them.. it's all about money and power so expect more of the same, Dodson, Falwell, and the rest will vote REPUBLICAN AGAIN.

They have no other choice.

I expect that Rove will be diverting a TON of money to these guys, and they "NUTS" comments will be "forgiven" :)

Falwell, the great White Whale. Love to force him and Hastert into a single PHONE BOOTH...

19. Could be the guy's a true believer--in Jesus--not the GOP
There are the Ralph Reeds of the world, religious con artists who've gone into politics in a big way. Then there are the sincere believers. You may not agree with them but you have to respect their beliefs.

It seems like this guy Coe got into the White House thinking he was going to do some good in the world and very quickly realized that the politicians that he thought were his friends and fellow travellers actually despised the entire lot of them.

No one like to find out that they're being used.

What's going to be interesting is to see how other religious conservatives view this book.

12. I thinking that
if the two of them were walking down the sidewalk, and someone said, "Good golly gosh! Look at the jowls on that swine!" .... you'd have to wonder who they meant.

11. Question about Falwell
Falwell and Robertson were on national TV right after 9-11 saying 9-11 was God's punishment on America for tolerating gays, secular humanists, atheists and so on.

Is there any moral difference at all between Falwell and Robertson, and that Fred Phelps guy who is picketing funerals of deceased coal miners, soldiers, disaster victims, and murdered Amish schoolchildren, saying it was God's punishment on America for tolerating gays and abortion?

Any difference at all? I can't see any. Falwell and Robertson are cut from the exact same cloth as Phelps. There isn't even a difference in degree, Falwell and Phelps have said the exact same thing. Phelps is reviled in the media and rightly so. So why do Falwell and Robertson get a free pass? Because they've been in the limelight so long and are considered "religious right leaders"?

Falwell and Robertson, people who believe and say the exact same things as Fred Phelps, are the core of Bush's support and the R's in Congress.

We need to drive this point home early and often.

Not really.

Is there any difference ideologically between Falwell/Robertson/Phelps and Osama bin Laden?

13. Not to defend Barbara Bush, but...
Falwell calling her 'frumpy' kind of shocks me. You'd think a man of god would be able to see her beautiful mind. Would Jesus call her 'frumpy'? No, he'd simply cast all the devils out of her into Falwell and watch him stampede over a cliff. I think I even read that in the Bible somewhere.
