HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIPMATE'S (Navy's Birthday)
231 years ago today, 13 October 1775, the United States Navy was born. Well done to those serving, those who have served and most importantly to those who died while serving so we could be free to hunt and peck on DU this morning.

There are elements within and without our country who would take away our freedoms. We must remain ever vigilant.

Carry On!

5. Hello Shipmate
Recently finished a great book, The Bravest Man, Richard O'Kane and the Amazing Submarine Adventures of the USS TANG.

Awesome book. I've always had a great curiousity of submarine service, never having served on one myself. Totally fascinating machines.

My Father was career Navy (enlisted) and I was amazed at the bond between him and his shipmates. At his funeral, one-by-one they marched to the podium and payed tribute to their shipmate.

Happy Birthday Navy!
