Wal Mart Loses Suit Alleging Labor Violations

In Pennsylvania, the retail giant Wal-Mart has lost a class action lawsuit that says it violated a series of state labor laws. On Thursday, a jury ruled Wal Mart illegally forced employees to work through rest breaks and during time not counted on the clock. Lawyers are seeking at least $62 million dollars for close to 190,000 current and former employees. The jury is expected to decide on damages later today. Analysts say the case could have a major impact on several similar lawsuits against Wal Mart across the United States.

4. Oh, No! Will they have to raise prices now?
But how will all the people who lost their jobs because of Wal Mart afford to shop at Wal Mart on their Wal Mart salaries if all of Wal Mart's formerly low-low prices on their sweatshop-made crap go up?

5. If the only way for Wal Mart (and many other corporations) to do business
is to exploit labor both at home and abroad - then they should not be in business at all.

6. I'm sure this will be appealed, BUT, what they did is frowned upon
by any court that I know of! Sure they can tie up thefinal result for a while, but I really believe, in the end, WM will lose!
