Boehner: Why didn't DEMOCRATS stop us from molesting teen pages???
DES MOINES, IA - House Majority Leader John Boehner today accused Democrats of endangering House pages for political gain.

Boehner, speaking at a campaign event for 3rd District Republican candidate Jeff Lamberti, said Democratic operatives have known about inappropriate e-mails sent by former Rep. Mark Foley, a Florida Republican, to young male pages for some time. He said Democrats had been shopping the information around Washington as a political ploy.

"Someone who had this information allowed those 16-year-old pages to be at risk while they were playing their political games," said Boehner, R-Ohio. "I do not believe thus far that Republicans knew about these sexually explicit instant messages."

Boehner, a 16-year veteran of the House, found himself at the center of the page scandal when he claimed to have talked with House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Illinois, about improper contact between Foley and the pages.

He SWEARS his last name is pronounced "BAY-ner," despite it's quite clearly pronounced "Boner."

So, yeah, I think he's used to being laughed at.

24. I've studied German, Russian, French and Spanish.
There is NO language in which "oe" is pronounced like a "long a" sound. In German, it MIGHT be pronounced like we pronounce the "u" in "lure," but there is no way it is pronounced the way he says it is.
I agree; he's SO full of baloney.

27. the only other place I've seen it pronounced that way...
is with the creator of the Simpsons, Matt Groening, which is apparently supposed to be pronounced "Gray-ning." I'm sure that's a similar situation, since it sounds like "groaning" (or perhaps "grooning," which is nonsensical) if you actually pronounce it according to Germanic pronunciation rules. I figure Matt was also probably teased about his last name, so he just changed the pronunciation; of course, I'm perfectly happy to pronounce his name however he wants, since he created the Simpsons, and is therefore a god... Mr. Boner gets no such sympathy from me. ;-)

I also speak German, so I know exactly what you mean; plus, I grew up in Indonesia, where a lot of names are spelled with an "oe" which is pronounced has a pure "oo" because they follow an adapted Dutch pronunciation (Soeharto, Soekarno being two obvious examples, though they're just as often spelled with a "u").

29. My point exactly!
Particularly the point about Groening (which, accordingly to what we were taught, could be pronounced 'grooning,' like you say); but, he created the Simpsons ... so, I'll play along with whatever he wants. I will not do so with BONER, however; the best you'll get out of me is 'Booner.'

12. Just the first few riders
There will soon come the cavalry stampede of blame for the Democrats if they re-take control of one or both houses of Congress:

Why didn't the Democrats stop . . .

The USA PATRIOT Act?
The Unitary Executive Madness of George W. Bush?
The AUMF?
The tax cuts for the wealthy?
The underfunding of the military?
The understaffing of the military?
The invasion of Iraq?
The bridge to nowhere in Alaska?
The hands-off approach of the Justice Department to corporate criminality?
The malfeasance of the EPA toward the environment?
The misconduct of the NLRB?

Oh, they'll be able to go on and on for weeks, months, hell even years about how the Democrats failed to stop every hare-brained idea that the Republicans have had for the last 12 years.

20. Actually on another forum a bushbot
claimed that Granholm (D-Mi)WAS responsible for the bridge to no where. He then went on to claim Granholm was also responsible for not protecting michigan from canadain garbage, a republican venture started by a republican named Engler. They are getting very worried when they have to resort to the blame game instead of standing on party records, oh yeah thats right they have nothing good in their current records to stand on.

14. Aw, for crying out loud!
The GOP has been in charge of Congress since 1994, save for 2 years when Jeffords defected, and that was in the Senate. The pages in question were in the House, not the Senate. They were GOP pages, not Democratic pages. The sole Democrat on the panel overseeing the page program was pointedly NOT TOLD for the entire duration of his tenure on that panel.

Just what the HELL is this fool talking about?

GOP, the party of BLAME EVERYBODY ELSE.

That SOB John Boehner should be verbally tarred and feathered, and rode out on a rail, literally.

16. If a Republican shits their pants, it's the Democrats fault.
If their wife breaks a nail, a Democrat did it.

If they run out of gas, milk, bread, eggs: it's the Dems fault.

If their car breaks down, a Dem should have told them beforehand it needs to be serviced.

If a Republican has split ends, dirty laundry to be done, a runner in their hose, weeds in their yard, a past due bill, or a lost dog, it's because of the Democrats.

About the only thing Republicans WILL take credit for is tax cuts for the rich! And that's it.

Pathetic.

Why do Republicans need the Democrats to police their party for them? Are they not responsible enough, or grown up enough, to do it for themselves?

23. I wonder if this is a product of...
Rush, Hannity, et al, blaming Clinton, Dems, and the "librul media" for everything for years, both during the Clinton administration as well as after Shrub took office? (ie: 9/11, Korea, the page scandal, economy, Somalia, Cole bombing, etc, etc.)

With an army of Dittiots ready to buy into whatever ridiculous blame is pointed at Clintons/dems/etc., this seems the most logical ploy for a very, very desperate party at this point.

However, people have finally caught on...THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF FREAKIN' LIARS and they are finished after November 7.

Hey BONER!....ABC has already reported it was a REPUKE staffer who had the info and leaked it.

From what's been on ABCNNBCBSFoulNoiseNutwork, the only ones informed were the Republicans. And they kept their wugs shut.
