This was on CNN. I haven't been able to stand Rendell ever since he urged Al Gore to give up and let Bush take the Presidency. This was when he was the DNC chair and in my opinion a big reason that Gore gave up...

Rendell says Senate should confirm Alito

WASHINGTON -

Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania on Tuesday reluctantly urged the Senate to confirm Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, saying the only way to keep conservatives off the bench is to put a Democrat in the White House.

Rendell said the only test that should count in confirming a Supreme Court pick is fairness, integrity, legal record and academic background.
"I think Judge Alito passes all those tests," Rendell said in an interview. "He would not have been my pick by any means, but he deserves confirmation."

The Pennsylvania governor said the confirmation process has gotten too political and urged Democrats to make sure they hold the presidency the next time a vacancy occurs.

"For all the Democrats complaining about Judge Alito, work a little harder and contribute more money" in the 2008 presidential election, Rendell said.
