Tom DeLay's Candidate Quicksteps Out of 'Dancing'

By Lisa de Moraes
Saturday, October 14, 2006; Page C01

Tom DeLay's efforts to seize control of the voting on ABC's hit reality series "Dancing With the Stars" came crashing down this week when his candidate, country crooner Sara Evans, abruptly quit the show and filed for divorce

* * *

When DeLay resigned from Congress, several months after stepping down as House majority leader last September after a Texas grand jury indicted him on charges stemming from a campaign finance investigation, he said he would continue "to engage in the important cultural and political battles of our day."

Who knew that would include a campaign to squash liberal "Dancing With the Stars" contestants -- like Jerry Springer.

Shortly before the show debuted, DeLay sent out a blast e-mail, asking his supporters to vote for Evans on the dancing competition series because she had been a strong supporter of the Republican Party and "represents good American values in the media" while "ultra liberal talk show host Jerry Springer" does not.

"We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television," DeLay said.

1. "Smut has no place on television"
... instead lets keep it hidden in chatrooms and perverse emails from dirty, horny old Legislators

... lets keep it hidden overseas where brothers and wealthy friends of the pResident can travel to misuse the child of their choice

... lets keep it hidden in the backrooms of churches where oppressed, frustrated and often predatory clergy can intimidate and assault the youngsters we send to them with our trust ...

 What an asshat.

3. DeLay must not have actually watched the show.
There was one night I was really worried that Sara's Family Values breasts were going to come flying out of the outfit she barely had on.

19. The only thing missing with that outfit are a set of
pom-poms in Ms Evans hands. That outfit looks like something an NFL cheerleader would wear.

2. No really best part of the article is
"Additionally, Evans said in her filing, her husband has photographs of himself having sex with other women and has at least 100 nude photos of himself in a state similar to that of my 4-year-old Yorkshire terrier after playing with his favorite plush toy, Mr. Humpy-Fox."

ok this writer gets the award for the best description of the photos - roflmbo

11. Well since the are supposed to be God fearing
family values repunks - supported by Tom Delay - who advised his followers to vote for Sara on DWS so that disgusting Jerry Springer loses - might be a tad bit embarrassing for nekkid photos and all - once again its not the sex scandal its the unfreaking believable hypocrisy....

and speaking of family values - Jerry Springer actually wins the prize for that on DWS - he wanted to stay on DWS long enough to learn how to waltz so he could waltz with his daughter at her upcoming wedding - well he made it to the waltz - did a great job and at the end of the dance he left his partner to go over and hug his daughter - brought me to tears - pisses me off so that these hypocrites think they have the lock on family values.....

18. It's not just naked photos
According to the Nashville Tennessean:

Sara Evans filed for divorce Thursday from her husband of 13 years, Craig Schelske, in Williamson County, alleging that he had committed adultery, verbally abused her and frequently watched pornography at home.
...
According to the document filed in chancery court, Schelske allegedly has on his computer at least 100 photographs of himself posing in an aroused state. There are several photographs of him having sex with other women, the filings stated.
...
On Sept. 28, one of the children confronted Schelske, 43, at the couple’s Franklin home when he was watching pornography on TV, the filing stated. The couple’s children are 2, 3 and 7 years old.

Evans, 35, requested a temporary restraining order prohibiting Schelske from physically and verbally abusing her, exposing their three young children to pornographic materials of any kind, consuming alcoholic beverages to excess in front of Evans or the children, and taking their children to Oregon, which would interfere with her temporary and pending custody.

BTW, she apologized to Jerry for DaLay's email. I don't mind that she is gone from the show - she cannot dance to save her life. But she seemed like a nice person. Whatever her politics, she is going through some really tough time.

Another hypocritical GOP creep exposed thanks to her.

4. Is he using a prison computer to blast his pals?
The shrinking center of his power. Next week, he goes after Stephen Colbert's wagging finger. And after that, the caveman in the Gieko commercials.

and her husband. Sounds like they have a problem and they are working it out in public. Why should we participate?

9. Because her husband is the chairman of CRAIG PAC,
a national political action committee dedicated to electing Republicans at the federal and state level, and also the executive director of American Destiny.com, an organization committed to restoring the heart and soul of America. There is no such thing as too much exposure of Republican hypocrisy.

American Destiny is committed to reminding our generation of our past, to teaching history in such a way as to impart destiny. American Destiny is designed to make the past live again in our hearts, and give us hope and vision for the future.

But our goal is not just information. It is change. By remembering who we were intended to be. The result: social justice, economic strength, racial reconciliation, political righteousness, and a faith that draws the favor of God.

Our dream, and our passion, is to see America shake off her lesser self and become the nation of God’s intent and our Founders’ hopes. Help us, then, to Remember what has been forgotten, Restore what has been lost, and Rebuild what America may again become.

17. Does he realize how many people laugh at him?
I'm so f*cking sick of a**holes like Delay and Bennett preaching to others about morality. It would be like Michael Jackson giving parenting tips or Ann Coulter hosting a show on the Food Network. :eyes:

20. Yes, if Bennett had ANY shame he'd slink away and never appear on TV or
radio again.

But, since he has none, he richly deserves to have someone mention his gambling problem every time he's on the air.
