No! Fox News takes over iconic Times Square screen!
TV Newser: News Corp Takes Over Times Sq. Screen
Friday, Oct 13

"Today FOX News Channel and FOX & Friends co-host Steve Doocy commemorated News Corporation's takeover of the iconic Panasonic Astrovision screen at New York City's One Times Square by 'squashing' the NBC peacock," the network said in a press release today. "On Oct. 1, 2006, News Corporation (parent company of FOX News Channel) took over the Astrovision screen's content from NBC, who had long-held the rights to the screen's programming. This morning marked FOX News Channel's first live broadcast of FOX & Friends on the Times Square screen."

4. That was my first thought too...
It's about time for the Astrovision screen to meet its demise. It's a bit too conspicuous for my taste anyway.

7. Bright idea
Who wants to take a collection to buy one of the billboards above or below and put up an ad that says "FAKE NEWS" and an arrow pointing to the screen?

11. Hey, at least when NBC ran the board,
you saw the occasional plug for Countdown. They used it to plug their shows on MSNBC and CNBC as well as the NBC shows.

From now on, I will only walk through Times Square with my head down, like New Yorkers do--when they go there at all!
