You wanna know what I think?? |
|
I think Karl Rove got his ass kicked every single day in school and vowed the ultimate Revenge of the Nerds. I think he studied 1984 and Orwell and turned it into his playbook. I think he needs his ass kicked again.

1. His biography says that he was abused, but |
|
rose above it to become whom he is. Right now it's too late at night for me to dig up the references, but he had a rough upbringing. For that I do sympathize with him. However, it doesn't give him the right to be a socio-pathic prick.

5. i would argue that he didn't rise above it. |
|
the fact that some unethical politicians found value in a criminal ball of contempt with a knack for foul play does not mitigate that he is a major failure as a human being.

when he was 18 (i think it was) on his birthday (Christmas), his father |
|

walked out on the family. Later he found out that who he thought was his father all those years, wasn't his biological one after all. Later his mother killed herself.
edited to add from wikipedia
Adoption, parents' divorce, and mother's suicide
At Christmas of 1969, Rove's father walked out of the marriage; his parents then divorced. After the divorce, Rove learned from his aunt and uncle that the man who had raised him was not his biological father; both he and an older brother were the children of another man. <4> Rove has expressed great love and admiration for his adoptive father and for "how selfless" his love had been (New Yorker profile <5>).
In 1981, Rove's mother committed suicide in Reno, Nevada, when Rove was 30 years old. When Rove was in his 40s, he finally met his biological father.

2. wrong about who he studied. |
|
his playbook was not written by orwell, but rather by the nazis.
there's just NO WAY he didn't admire their propaganda machine. there are just too many similarities.
probably right about the ass-kicking part.

14. Famous quote of Atwater: "Create chaos and then swim through it." |
|
That's what Rove does, he creates a chaotic situation of disinformation which gets the opponent stuck (because the opponent seldom stoops to his level to counterattack), and then Rove and his gang just swim right through it.
Atwater was the one who "masterminded" the famous racist Willie Horton ads which propelled george h.w. bush into the White House. Rove used the same tricks in the "whisper campaign" against McCain in South Carolina, cost McCain the nomination.

a horrible man with no conscience. I don't think that people like him live unscathed forever.
Sounds like he's built up some heavy, negative karma. I wouldn't want to be him when it starts to pay him back...

15. Atwater expressed regret for what he had done. |
|
Rove, of course, never will express regret, except perhaps that he didn't do even more damage.

18. That's pretty amazing-- |
|
how often does that happen? Wonder if glimpses of 'the other side' of what was waiting for him, made him repent?

9. He found some delusional wannabe with substance & inferior issues |
|
And told him, that he was going to make him President.
So he locked him in a room with a tv & vcr for a year, with all of the episodes of 'Dallas.' Karl made him watch 'Dallas' over and over, and instructed him to be and act just like J.R. Ewing.
That worked until 9/11, so then a cross section of westerns and war movies had to be studied for impersonations. Then Karl pulled out 1984 and Orwell, and unleashed his revenge.
