I have some random RSS searches for obscure news items. I ran across this gem from October 4, 2006. Tell me if you think it was written by a "real" reporter, or one of DHS's Government "news writers":
The more people on guard against suspicious activity in this era of mass casualty terrorism, the better. That’s the rationale behind the Highway Watch program, first initiated in 1999 and boosted nationally after Sept. 11, 2001.
(snip)
Because transportation workers often drive on the same routes, they are familiar with potential terrorist targets, such as nuclear power plants, chemical facilities and transportation infrastructure.
"Often they go to the same places and so they’ll recognize if somebody is taking pictures of a bridge, that type of thing," said Webb. "It trains the drivers in what to look for as far as potential terrorist or
criminal activity."
(emphasis is mine) sourceRead the whole piece - it's pure government propaganda disguised as real news. Also, did you notice how this DHS program not only covers "terrorist" activity, but also "criminal" activity?
Nice. Now we are ALL the police? Wonderful. "Get your Brownshirts here!!!"
