*SNIFF* *SNIFF*....hmm....Smells like propaganda....
I have some random RSS searches for obscure news items. I ran across this gem from October 4, 2006. Tell me if you think it was written by a "real" reporter, or one of DHS's Government "news writers":

The more people on guard against suspicious activity in this era of mass casualty terrorism, the better. That’s the rationale behind the Highway Watch program, first initiated in 1999 and boosted nationally after Sept. 11, 2001.

(snip)

Because transportation workers often drive on the same routes, they are familiar with potential terrorist targets, such as nuclear power plants, chemical facilities and transportation infrastructure.

"Often they go to the same places and so they’ll recognize if somebody is taking pictures of a bridge, that type of thing," said Webb. "It trains the drivers in what to look for as far as potential terrorist or criminal activity."

(emphasis is mine)
source

Read the whole piece - it's pure government propaganda disguised as real news. Also, did you notice how this DHS program not only covers "terrorist" activity, but also "criminal" activity?

Nice. Now we are ALL the police? Wonderful. "Get your Brownshirts here!!!"

2. Jeez Louise
I wonder just what categories of "criminal activity" they'll be looking for. Having anti-Bush bumper stickers perhaps?

4. This is real
My brother is an over the road truck driver(coast to coast) he took a class on spotting criminal and suspicious activity. He mentioned it, but we didn't get into what he is supposed to look for, except possible stolen, or suspicious haz-mat hauling trucks. When you think about it, it makes sense, that puts a lot of eyes out there.

6. Obviously, but is the "news article" written by a US Government hired
Edited on Fri Oct-20-06 10:18 AM by file83
writer, or a real "independent" authentic news reporter/writer? That's the question. Obviously the "Highway Watch" program is real - that's not in question. So what do you think?

5. Phew, well it may be a real program
But I have to agree that the article is propaganda. Like that obnoxious interview with the super-patriot truck driver who was in Vietnam. We are "so free" compared to other countries. If they repeat that often enough they might just brainwash us into believing it.

Good catch file83. With all the propaganda out there we should become experts in it huh?
