Just rented "American Dreamz"-big thumbs up!!

uncanny in the way it uses pop culture staire to hit just about every
aspect of the ongoing Bush/Iraq disaster,
yet remains sweet tempered throughout.
Depends on good writing and witty dialogue
rather than big glitz or effects.

1. Mandy Smith is my girl.

She was also fantastic in "Saved!" an even more pointed and successful satire of hypocritical people who parade their "high morals" and cheat secretly...hmmm, sound familiar? It also co-stars in wonderful roles Jena Malone, Martin Donovan of "Weeds," Mary Louise Parker, also of "Weeds" and Macauley Culkin.

Very clever movie. Without giving too much away, there were scenes where I didn't know whether to laugh or cry - like the meeting with the Chinese Premiere (no reporters allowed).

For those who haven't heard of it, the tagline:

"Imagine a country where the President never reads the newspaper, where the government goes to war for all the wrong reasons, and more people vote for a pop idol than their next President."
