Could we please quit using the word "elected"? (when it comes to Bush) |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 06:53 AM by SoCalDem
I wish there was some way to get our folks (elected officials and here at DU too) to start using "when Bush TOOK office" or "when Bush assumed the office of president" or "when Bush came to power".
This could be done in an "innocent way"..just as the "democRAT senator/congressperson" stuff started. Soon it becomes a part of the lexicon, IF everyone uses it and does NOT go back to the word "elected"..
Some reporters already say "Mr" bush, instead of President Bush, so why not give them another phrase they could use..
I cringe every time i hear a democratic senator say "When President Bush was elected..." Was he?? really? can that be proved?
Bush himself has (on three separate occasions) opined how wonderful it would be to be a dictator. he's almost there now, so why even pretend anymore. Lets stop with the niceties..

Bush took office. He was never elected.
Even in 2004 - we have no way of knowing if it was a clean and fair election (notably in the crucial state of Ohio).

7. Be careful what you wish for... |

I've heard chatter that they're going to try to run * again in 2008 based on the fact that he WASN'T elected the first time. It sounds too extreme to imagine, but so does half of what goes on these days - I wouldn't put it past Karl and his gang to claim that Shrub should get a chance to be elected for a 2nd time.

8. Hah!.. That little troll would never admit that his "elections" were |
|
fraudulent:).. He might manufacture a catastrophe just before the election, and declare amrtial law though.. An election would/could be put off in that case (I think)..he will not go easily:

9. My fourth grader had an extra credit paper from her teacher, |
|
and one of the questions on this years-old questionnaire was "who was the only president not elected to the office" The answer she was looking for was Gerald Ford, but I made may daughter add the phrase "and George W. Bush in 2000".

Although I can't imagine any teacher in the public school system would support this (or any republican) administration. You would think that teachers would be smart!
