I caught my child smoking... I'm throwing her out and will blacken her
name at every chance I get.

Sure, she's a lot like me... BUT she does something I disagree with.

So fuck the little bitch. Everyone hates smokers, right?

So please, join me in hating my daughter. It's the christian thing to do because if she passes by a non-smoker, they will drop like a rock. And remember, the pollution from my car is okay, because most of us really prefer cars to horses or walking and electric cars are just too expensive.

Peace out and keep up the hate!

10. You can walk, buy an electric car, public transportation....
Lot's of alternatives. They just aren't convenient.

Pissing on others is easy though.

17. And you can chew tobacco or chew gum...
lots of alternatives to feed an oral fixation without fouling the air that I breathe. They're just not as satisfying, I guess.

Smokers complaining about people "pissing on others". Haha, that's rich.

'cause I don't know if you've spent much time in or around Toronto. But I'll go out on a limb and say no.

Now tell me, have I been "pissing on others"?

25. Cars are not worse, unless they are exhausting inside a house.
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 05:41 PM by pnwmom
There ARE smog days in many cities where the outside air approximates the air of an indoor smoker's house on any day. But in my large metro area, this only happens for a handful of days each year.

its funny how most liberals think non legal drug users need help...marijuana should be legal...but cigarette smokers should be shot

41. I've never encountered anybody, liberal or otherwise
who thought that smokers should be shot. I guess I don't get out as much as other people do.

My opinion: Both substances should be legal, but I don't think the smoking of either should be allowed where other people would have to breathe in the smoke against their wishes. If that makes me some sort of a fascist, so be it.

12. does this happen alot?
BTW, I do not own a car, so apparently I have two fingers I can shake at you.

I just do not see that much hate for smokers on DU. I have seen more of your threads seemingly trying to justify smoking. Maybe I see everything twice!

Smoking does not bother me as long as smokers don't keep trying to shove their cigarettes down my throat. Plus, I end up having to pick up alot of butts at my job. I do wish the whole world would quit, but I do not preach to everyone I see.

18. And that's a good thing (to disagree on some things) and I would not
smoke in a non-smoker's house (unless it was 10 below and I was stuck for days and then it would only be in the bathroom with the fan on).

22. I don't hate smokers. But my reactive airways close up when
exposed to irritants like cigarette smoke. Fortunately, that's a rare occurance nowadays.

The difference between car exhaust and cigarette exhaust? Car exhaust is much more dispersed. No one tries to drive cars indoors.

23. Been to a tractor pull lately? Motocross? Hell a concert with pyrotech?
It's out there and I'm sure you avoid those things... (I do and without the need of health concerns).

Car exhaust? If you live and work in a large city, the downtown streets can nearly down even the most auspicious smoker... Don't even think about a parking garage at 7-8:00 AM.

28. Ever tried to work inside a small room with 8 active smokers?
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 05:45 PM by pnwmom
I had to, back in the old days. Before any company thought of banning inside smoking.

I live in a large city, and smog alerts -- where the air quality is not as bad as that office I had to work in -- occur less than 10 times a year.

24. Well, since it's really you that taught her it was okay to smoke...
You should really be in jail for child abuse.

"Daddy... why do I get so many ear infections? Why is my asthma so bad? But Daddy, if you smoke, why can't I?"

It's really not fair to blame her.

She's addicted to nicotine from inhaling it from you.

You've abused her and poisoned her.

You know, it's best you don't let her in the house.

You're a bad influence.

39. I think you've been beating up alot of straw people lately.
Has anybody on this board suggested that they hate you for being a smoker? I certainly have no love of being around cigarette smoke, but that doesn't mean that I hate people who smoke, and my guess is that there either are none, or a miniscule number of people on this board that possess attitudes that you seem to be arguing against.

If somebody's acting hateful, either alert on them, or use the ignore button. In the meantime, please stop making such broad brush suggestions about what other DUers in general believe. IMO, it's both grossly inaccurate, and highly inconsiderate.

I like the flexibility of GD, but it invites provocative, judgemental threads that don't do anyone any good. LBN's a little drier, but you don't have to worry about bullshit threads designed to divide.
