Alabama Candidate Campaigns on Cleavage
astonishingly, this isn't the usual porno-writing Republican candidate, but a Libertarian...

Alabama Candidate Campaigns on Cleavage

By PHILLIP RAWLS
*

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Loretta Nall, the Libertarian Party's write-in candidate for governor of Alabama, is campaigning on her cleavage and hoping that voters will eventually focus on her platform.

"It started out as a joke, but it blew up into something huge," said Nall, a 32-year-old with dyed blond hair.

Her campaign is offering T-shirts and marijuana stash boxes adorned with a photo of her with a plunging neckline and the words: "More of these boobs." Below that are pictures of other candidates for governor _ including Republican incumbent Bob Riley and Democratic Lt. Gov. Lucy Baxley _ and the words: "And less of these boobs."

Her Web site has a cartoon of someone stuffing bills down the front of her low-cut top. And for $50 donation she apparently offers to show a cartoon of herself flashing her breasts.

5. Can these Libertarians go back to their holes please?
They try to draw out people who are just dejected by government but they need a sane agenda to do that...

7. I would say they have some good positions here and there
But their rabid antagonism of anything governemtn is really in my opinion leading to mostly pointless campaigns.

8. well, yeah. I once asked a Libertarian how he could oppose
concentrated government power, yet not oppose concentrated corporate power.

he was quiet for awhile.

11. The right-leaning libertarians are generally phonies.
They will quote Ayn Rand endlessly (often the only book they ever read) and act as if environmentalists are commie pinko bastards. Yet, I have yet to run into one that will oppose Bush's invasive spy policies as emphatically as they oppose government regulations.

25. That's why we need to CO-OPT them on personal freedom & self-determination

issues. The American people are far more socially libertarian than the Powers-That-Be want to let on. (Witness how Terri Schiavo bit the GOP on the ass) We can bring in millions of unaligned new votes by:

  • Calling for an end to the drug war, and full legalization -with regulation & taxation- of Marijuana

  • Calling for full and irrevocable privacy and reproductive rights for all, and the right of gays to get married

  • Standing up for the First Amendment, including the separation of church and state and the right of consenting adults to read or watch what they want in the privacy of their own homes, even if that's pictures of other consenting adults fucking.

  • Calling for personal self-determination in health issues, including the right of people to make their own pain management and end-of-life choices.

Meanwhile, we can pull in voters from the Greens and the "heartland values" crowd by supporting a SPHC system and a liveable min. wage.

    18. You have to acknowledge that they have a good position on the drug war, though
I'm sure as hell not voting for any of them, but somebody needs to speak up on this and for the most part the Democrats aren't doing it.

    23. Bull. The worst parts of the Libertarian fiscal/Corporate Dereg. agenda
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 10:42 PM by impeachdubya
are already being advanced by the GOP, with rampant cronyism built right in to the mix- while the Republicans simultaneously piss away hundreds of Billions on shit like No-Bid contracts, Corporate pork, and Iraq. AND we get the GOP's far right fundy Xtian control agenda, to boot.

The Libertarians are, generally, about half right- the half pertaining to social issues and individual (not corporate) rights. Half right is better than the GOP, which is NEVER right in my mind.

Besides, I can't imagine how it could possibly be worse having these boobs in the White House:

Than it is having THESE boobs in the White House:

    15. Loretta is running as a Libertarian, but her overall platform...
...includes withdrawing from Iraq, telling the Patriot Act to fuck off, for a guest worker program, against religion in politics (she accuses her foes of trying to "out-Jesus" each other"), marijuana legalization, broader drug policy reform, gay rights, and environmental issues.

She's basically an Alabama housewife who became the subject of a police raid and arrest for a roach after writing a letter to the editor critical of marijuana policy. Thus was born another activist.
