The one possible small positive from Alito nomination... |
|
We're still looking for that pony under that big stack of horseshit. But, in my opinion, if Alito is permitted to go through, a few Republicans will feel like they won a big victory but that they are going to show they are not stuck to George Bush's ass and will actually demand some answers on this eavesdropping scandal. A few may join with Democrats to get to the bottom of this spying. If they do investigate thoroughly, then it will put a lot of pressure on George W Bush himself to explain why he broke the law? If Alito is defeated, then they would not feel the same duty to do their job, in my opinion. If we're looking for any positives from this disaster, that would be the one to look for.

has a silver lining. I think you're stretching it. Be nice if you were right, though. I'd like to hear GWB explain himself, over and over.

If the spying issue goes to the supreme court, Alito will pat * on the back and tell him he is doing a heckuva job.
Sorry- I don't see anything good coming out of a Justice Alito.
We're screwed.

5. the Dems always follow a capitulation like this with some |
|
limited display of outrage and backbone. i suspect they holler like hell about the spying stuff and force a hearing - but mostly because some gopers will help them.

Alito will enable the (p)resident to expand his domestic spying, granting it the imprimature of the SC. If * is pressed on the issue, what court will it appear before?
Think about it.

9. Of course, Alito cannot do it by himself .... |
|
What other 4 Justices would go along with him?
