Bush: Democrats have no idea how to win in Iraq
Edited on Sat Oct-28-06 06:54 PM by kurth
SELLERSBURG, Ind. (AP) -- President Bush, campaigning aggressively ahead of the high-stakes Nov. 7 elections, said Saturday Democrats should not be trusted to control Congress because they have no idea how to win in Iraq...

A new Associated Press-AOL News poll that found likely voters -- angry at Bush and citing Iraq and the economy as their top issues -- overwhelmingly prefer Democrats over Republicans. The poll found voters think Democrats would do a better job on Iraq by a 15-point margin...

''Since 2003, President Bush has laid out nine different plans for victory in Iraq, none of them serious and none of them workable. And most seriously, this incompetence has hindered our ability to fight international terror,'' said the Democratic candidate for Senate in Virginia, Jim Webb. A decorated Vietnam combat veteran whose son is on active duty in Iraq, Webb was selected to speak for his party in delivering the weekly radio response to Bush...

2. First, Bush needs to define "win in Iraq". IMO "win" means withdraw our troops
as quickly as possible while keeping death and destruction to a minimum.

Our military presence only makes the situation worse and prevents the Iraqis from finding a solution to their own political problems.

The president met with "Kuds" and seven other conservative columnists on Wednesday, and declared, among other things, that we had to invade Iraq because they attacked us. "Don't write me down as trying to always put lipstick on the pig," he instructed.
By Greg Mitchell | 10/26/06

---snip---

Kuds: "You said if we leave Iraq they'll come after us --

Bush: "Yes."

Kuds: "We've heard you say that quite specifically. So maybe that's a sign of victory, is that they haven't come here."

4. How do you win a war crime?
besides not getting charged for it - that is (and I suppose that's a "win" of sorts - getting away with it and all)

The invasion of Iraq was a crime against the peace...a war crime...under international law

So how do you "win" that?

5. Seems pretty obvious that Bush has no idea how to win in Iraq, either.
Edited on Sat Oct-28-06 07:00 PM by ocelot
Not that "winning," whatever that means, is very likely anyhow. How long has this gone on? Didn't we take out Nazi Germany and Japan in about the same amount of time as we've been wallowing in Iraq? So, George, how come *you* haven't managed to "win" yet?

12. To me winning is very easy
Declare victory and bring all the troops home and have big parades. Let Iraq take care of Iraq just as it has done for ever. It is after all the cradle of civilization. Been around a lot longer than Bush* or America or England or Europe or the Greeks or the Romans or even Moses and we have the audacity to think we should tell them how to run their country.......

23. Agree 100%. No one can win there. No one. So just declare victory and go home.
How pathetic and patronising to think that the greatest losers in the history of American government can tell Iraqis how to run their country.

16. Sorry, George, there's no replaying this lost game. No trophy for you.
Nobody has a plan to "win" in Iraq because the war has already been lost.

There'll be no popping of champagne corks or victory parades. Just more burials of the poor sods who got stuck in a needless "war" that was started so that a half-witted fratboy could pretend he's wearing a XXXL jockstrap and a lot of his pals could make a lot of money.

17. you f**king incompetent piece of dogS**T, it's not a f**king football game
--when I hear the expression "win in Iraq" my head explodes.
How many "touchdowns" does it take to "win"?
the way this assclown is running his war-folly, it will take several lifetimes to "win"--by killing every single solitary human being in the country, I guess--but the imperialist invaders will be repelled long before that, bankrupted and made to look like the incompetent, unconscienable fools that they are. does the dumb@$$ FOOL think the Iraqis are going to "surrender" or something? He has never said what "winning" means and hasn't the foggiest idea himself. oh, yeah, a few years ago he said "mission accomplished"--what was THAT about, anyway? WHAT "mission" was "accomplished"?

what a PIECE OF WORK. When the HELL is this piece of scheist going to The Hague, along with his conspiratorial, evil, criminal greed-head, war-mongering, murdering accomplices?

go eat a pretzel while riding your Segway and choke, dogturd.

21. He talks about "winning" but cannot tell us what "winning the war" means.
When is the war won? Will the insurgents throw up a white flag and say, "We surrender"?

I doubt it.

Maybe Shrub is planning on killing every single person in Iraq. That seems to be the strategy so far.

Jeezus, he is a fucking asshole. I cannot imagine dealing with this douchebag for two more years.

33. Not just Iraq. Remember, he's mentioned the "caliphate".
He is a psychopath who wants to murder people, and, with his position, never needs stop.
He has the whole world to terrorize.

After all, only a megalomaniac could a.) think of eradicating "terror"; and b.) do so by KILLING.

19. It's obvious the Bush Admin doesn't have a clue
It's getting worse every day, and Bush has no idea how to handle it. He just knows how to start wars,
getting out or winning is the last thing he knows anything about. Anyway, why does he think someone
else always need to bail him out of something he lied about to start the war in the first place? He's
not making a bit of sense.
Sounds like desperation to me. I'll put my money on any Democrat over that nincompoop.

The war in Iraq is on hold until after the election, with the hope it won't get any worse in the interim. Meanwhile soldiers die.
